"Hey guys!" Ole says walking into the staff room. "Hey Alyssa, are you free tomorrow?" He asks standing behind me and placing his hands on my shoulders.
Today is the 29th of January 2020. I have not seen my boyfriend for 3 months and it is killing me. Cris went home in October and neither of us have had the time to go to see each other over the holidays with games on all the time. I would give anything to be with him again.
On Christmas Eve I drove to my parents house like I always have and spent Christmas with them. I had to drive home that night however as we had a game on Boxing Day. I was on call with Cris so I could watch the kids open their presents.
In terms of my professional life instead of love life, everything is going great. I was recently promoted to head physio at the club which I am extremely proud of. The January transfer window is open and we have been looking at several players. I have been keeping tabs on players we are closely linked with so I can keep an eye on their fitness and any injuries. I've also looked in too a few players injury history so if they do sign I know what to keep an eye out for.
Ole asking me this clearly means we have signed someone.
"I am yes!" I say smiling over my shoulder at him.
"Good. Be here by dinner time?" He says but more as a question and he walks towards his office and sits at his desk.
"Of course. Who have we signed?" I ask closing the door behind me when I walk inside.
"Bruno Fernandes has agreed personal terms and the club agreed with the deal 5 minutes ago." Everything seems to slow down at the mention of his name. I completely forgot we were looking into signing him. I know we were linked with him in the summer but I completely forgot he was a transfer target. I was too busy keeping tabs on other things, I must have been told at some point we were getting close to a deal but it slipped my mind.
You may be wondering why I feel my world slow down at the mention of his name. That is because I know him.
Flashback
"Lyssa!" Cris shouts through the apartment we are staying in.
"Yes!" I shout back walking towards the origin of the shout.
"Do you feel like coming to the shop with me to get some stuff for the party?" He asks putting on his black bomber jacket over his white t shirt.
"Yea, just give me a minute." I say and walk towards our shared room. I sort out my hair and grab my own jacket and throw it over my shoulders. I put on some chapstick, slap my lips together and leave the room.
"Ready gorgeous?" He says looking away from the mirror which he is looking into to fix his hair, and over at me.
"I am." I smile at him and he looks over towards the sofa. I follow his gaze and realise his sister is sat there playing with the kids. "Oh hey! I didn't even realise you were there." I say with a laugh.
"Hey! Yea Cris asked me to come and watch the kids since he doesn't want them there, for obvious reasons." She says referring to the fact that we are most likely gonna by the twins and Junior presents.
"Fair enough, ready to go hun." Cris just nods at me and we say good bye to the kids and his sister and then walk to Cris' car.
He drives us to the supermarket where we buy snacks for the hotel that the kids want, formula for Alana, and other bits of food and drink for the party. We get everything we need and then drive to the toy store which is half way across town.
We get out of the car and make our way inside. It is relatively quiet so there aren't many people around to recognise Cris.
"Come on babes." He said linking our arms and leading the way inside the store.
