The car comes to a stop out side of this gorgeous restaurant in the centre of Manchester. I look out the window at the beautiful building. The words Jamie's restaurant were across the front in black and gold. The building stood tall and proud over the city of Manchester. Even the outside screams rich.
I look in the window to see beautiful and clearly extremely expensive chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Tables scattered across the floor and waitresses and waiters walked along bringing customers their food and drinks. Everyone was so smartly dressed and clearly rich. I feel like I don't belong here.
I am broke out of my thoughts when my door opens and Cristiano stands in front on me, holding his hand out. I take a hold of him and he helps me out of the car and then closes the door behind me. He bends his arm and places my hand near his arm.
Out of the corner of my eye, I notice a flash. Like a flash from a camera. I turn my head to see people with cameras start to appear.
Crap. Paparazzi.
Great. I think to myself as I see more cameras flashing around us.
"Are you ok?" Cris leans down and whispers in my ear.
"Yea I'm fine. I'm just not used to paparazzi taking photos of me when I'm out. Well they most likely aren't taking photos of me, more you but you understand what I mean."
"I understand. Come on let's get you inside." He walks towards the door and opens it up, walking in and guiding me in right behind him.
"Hello guys! Welcome to Jamie's Restaurant, how may I help you guys today?" A stunning dark haired waitress says walking up to us and picking up 2 menus.
"Hi, we have a reservation under the name Ronaldo." Cris says politely to the woman with a big smile.
"Of course, I'm sorry but before I show you two to your seats I just have to say, I admire your guys friendship so much. It truly is beautiful!" She says to us with a huge smile.
"Thank you so much.... Mikaela." I said reading the name on her badge that is pinned onto her white shirt.
"You're welcome, now if you would follow me, I will show you too your seats." We all shared a smile and then followed after Mikaela.
We were seated at the back of the room and Cristiano pulled out my seat for me like a true gentle man.
"So the pap thing. I'm surprised your not used to it. I mean with working for United, you must be used to it by now." Cris says after ordering us a bottle of red wine.
"You would think, wouldn't you. I am used to it in a way. Like if I'm walking into Old Trafford or into the training grounds or at the airport when going to a different country with the team or coming back, where fans and people of the media are then yes I am used to that. It's just I'm not used to them turning up when we are out and no one knows that we are. They just appear and start taking photos." I start feeling frustrated. Some people don't understand privacy.
"I understand that. I was like that especially when I first moved to Manchester. It's scary. It also feels like they are invading your privacy. That feeling never goes away." He reaches across the table and takes my hand in his, his thumb rubbing slow, calming circles on the back of my hand.
"I don't get why they need to be taking photos of us in the first place. It is our life and they are invading our privacy. It's not a feeling, it's facts."
"I understand. Now let's stop talking about that and order food because I'm starving." I laugh at his comment and we start reading the menu.
"Wow everything on here is so fancy. I don't know what to order." I say. He agrees with me.
