PART IV: THE REBIRTH

"For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life."

- Galatians 6:8

The Beggar did stir awake,
His coin at once returned.
And as night did giveth way to morn
He did look upon the birds.

The coin in its dishonour
Glint'd at his side
And despite its years of weareth,
'T did inviteth that gent to fly.

And in a mess of ivory plume
That gent soars into the sky.
A dove of silver pinion,
Cutting through the light.

And the village folk below
Who knew nothing of its plight,
Did look upon that bird
in the midst of its brilliant flight,

With eyes of wonderment;
And hearts of envious delight.

---

And so the Beggar born anew
Shed himself of humanities' awful hue
And ascended to the Heavens
A Saint.
