Magnus POV:
Today was going great!
No it wasn't, I was being sarcastic.
I mean, how are you supposed to get falafels if time isn't even working? I mean yeah, I could totally just. . . steal some. But hey, guess what? I don't know how to cook.
So let me rephrase the first comment. Today was going to be great until time stopped. Usually not something I would say. . . ever.
I tried contacting Annabeth, but the phone connection won't work. Then, I tried going to Blitz's place, but neither Hearth or Blitz were there. It was empty, silent, and it didn't seem right.
That's when-
"-I found you."
I raised my eyebrow. "You were eating a doughnut when you found me." It came out more of a statement than a question.
"Ok, and? Doughnuts are good, Maggie." Alex argued with a frown on her face.
"Time stopped and you were eating a doughnut."
"Hey, you'd do it if you had a doughnut!"
I huffed, "Fair enough."
The conversation cut off there. We stayed in a comfortable silence, listening to the sweet sound of nothing. It was odd, really. You couldn't hear the wind but you could breath normally. There weren't any footsteps or animals talking to one another.
"We should go back." Alex suddenly said, breaking the silence.
I nodded, there wasn't anything else we could do. Not even looking if I had responded in any way, Alex held her head high and walked out of Blitz's shop. The bell clanging as she opened the door.
I smiled and went after her, stopping the door from closing and pushing it open again. The only sound heard was the sound of our footsteps.
And then it wasn't.
I blinked, adjusting my eyes to my surroundings. It was brighter, louder, and greener. Sounds of children and teens made its way to me- and I realized that I wasn't with Alex anymore.
"Oh what the heck." I muttered, holding a hand on my head. What was happening today? I scrunched my face in confusion, who were these people? And why are they all obsessed with the color orange? Is this some weird group? Oh please don't tell me this is a-
"Magnus!" Annabeth yelled.
I swiveled my head towards Annabeths voice. She was only a few feet away from me, but she came sprinting to my side. She hugged me tightly, not allowing me any time to break free.
After about five seconds, she pulled away.
"There you are, I've been waiting for you to come!"
I blinked, "Wait, Annabeth, what's even going on? Last time I checked, I was in Boston with Alex."
She smiled, "This might sound crazy- I mean, it is crazy,"
I raised my eyebrow at the last statement.
"-but it's true. The fates have sent a group of demigods to travel in the past. Yes, we're at Camp Half Blood, although, I forgot what year it is."
My eyes widened and I cleared my throat. All I wanted today was falafels, I did not ask for this.
"Magnus, she's unfortunately telling the truth, we're stuck in the past."
I swear, I'm going to get a headache today.
"Blitz? No wonder I couldn't find you at the shop- is Hearth here too?"
Blitz nodded and pointed to Hearth. He was standing next to Rachel, Rachel? He waved at me cheerfully.
I waved back, but I was more focused on Rachel.
"Rachel? Are you a demigod too?" I asked suddenly.
She rubbed the back of her neck, "Not exactly- I'll tell you when everyone gets here. For now, you need to introduce yourself. You've made quite a scene, you know." She gestured to the children dressed in those weird orange t-shirts.
My face heated up, "Oh, um, hi?" What am I supposed to say? My favorite color?
A girl next to me smiled, amusement written all over her face. "Name, current residence, and godly parent."
I put an awkward smile on my face, "Gotcha'."
I sighed, "You guys probably don't know me, but I'm Magnus Chase, Annabeths cousin."
A girl in the crowd sputtered, "Magnus? Magnus Chase?"
Confusion filled my head until I got a better look at the girl. It was Annabeth. . . but younger. She had the same glare on her face, but she looked more energetic, ready for anything.
"Oh, wow, okay, did not expect that." Annabeth- my Annabeth, glared at me, "As I was saying, I currently live in Boston, Hotel Valhalla, a place for einherjar like me. My dad is Frey, god of peace and all that."
The kids stared at me in amazement, one of them, an older one, looked at me with shock. A scar showed on his face. Annabeth was looking at him, and lets just say she looked hurt. (She was acting a little strange when I arrived, what happened?)
"Senor, what a wonderful introduction, though I think I can say mine was much better!" Jack came up to me, and if he had a face I would bet that he was smiling.
I frowned, "I thought you had a date."
He ignored me.
"Annabeth here has agreed that I could take Riptide for a day!"
Annabeth whipped around with a frown, "Jack, when did I say that?"
Jack stayed silent, apparently he's never faced Annabeths wrath in person before.
While Annabeths future friends were talking, I slid over to her.
"So what's with the scar guy you keep making eye contact with?"
She glared at me, I held my gaze, one eyebrow raised. Finally she sighed and looked at the camp, "That is Luke Castellan."
My eyes slowly widened. "That's Luke Castellan. Like the one who got possessed Luke Castellan."
The tips of her mouth rose a little, "I wouldn't say possessed, Magnus. He chose to work with Kronos on his own."
She looked up at me, "I looked at him like he was my brother for years. When he betrayed us, something in me stopped trusting him. I love him, but what he did, Magnus, that's what got to me."
I nodded, "I'll find a way to distract him?"
She chuckled and smiled widely, "No, that's fine Maggie, I need to face him at one point." She frowned, "Preferably with Percy though."
"So we'll just have to wait for Percy to get here."
