*Evening*

-Hwiyoung's POV-

I'm inside the bedroom while looking at the starry night. I couldn't sleep, and it was getting darker with each hour that I wasted, keeping my mind fogged with multiple thoughts. There are inquiries that I couldn't answer and a feeling of betrayal that was taking over me. Honestly, it was hard not to feel sorry for me after the things I discovered. After all, I'm more confused than before, and somehow, I feel responsible for something that doesn't have anything to do with me.

The letter I found was a declaration that my father made to his best friend, Yoo Seunghan, Taeyang's father. I read it more than a couple of times. I wrote the entire paper in my notebook and tried to understand the content of it. But everything was worthless because I can't tell why all of this happened. The letter my father wrote explains his reasons behind Yoo Seunghan's murder. And so the appreciation my father had for this man. At that moment, I felt sorry for Taeyang because he needed to see the son of his father's murderer every day. But then, I thought about the multiple times Taeyang came to my house and how he approached my father. My gut tells me that Taeyang somehow knew who my father is, but he didn't speak to me about it.

I got mad, crazy when I understood that Taeyang lied to me. And probably, I was the only one fooled inside our group. Maybe everybody was aware of my father's nature, but I was the only exception. There are things that I can't guarantee, but something inside is telling me that I'm on the right call. So, with that in mind, I started to search around my father's office, trying to find more evidence that can convince me enough to hate my blood. Unfortunately, I discovered more things; I wrote everything down in my notebook, and after that, I placed everything back.

*Current time*

After everything that happened today, I cannot sleep. It doesn't sound right to have some peace in a dream. It isn't fair when I know that currently, everything isn't well. It hurts to know that Taeyang couldn't trust me, that my father murdered his father, and that I couldn't do something to make things better. Now, I'm sure that it's hard for Taeyang to love the son of his father's murderer. And share the same big dreams and aspirations as him.

I want to know what happened between Yoo Seunghan and my father. Everything that took place before, came from a place of fear and wicked feelings. I'm aware. But I also know that there must be a reason for everything.

I was holding my hands while still looking at the sky, but suddenly, the door from the bedroom got opened. I looked at it and noticed that my father was standing there.

-Hwiyoung, you are still awake. – My father said.

-Yes, I couldn't sleep at all. – I admitted, not showing any expression on my face.

-I saw the security cameras; you entered the office, so tell me why. – My father ordered.

-I know what you did, and maybe that's the reason why you took me out of Seoul so quickly. – I claimed fearlessly, ready to confront whatever's next.

-Explain. – My father spoke.

-You killed Yoo Seunghan, and you barely noticed that Taeyang was his son. So, you took me away because you don't want him close to me. – I disclosed while looking at my father sternly.

-Smart. Well done, son. – My father said before taking a deep breath. -Yoo Seunghan was my best friend, but he didn't understand my vision. – My father pointed out.

-What vision? And why do you help criminals? They give you money, but you don't need it because you are a successful actor. – I questioned, confused.

-Do you honestly want to know it all, son? – My father asked.

-Yes. Everything. – I claimed.

-Well, I guess you needed to know at some point in your life. – My father sighed before looking away from me. -Yes, I'm a successful actor, but I always wanted to know what I could do if I didn't choose this career. For years, scientists made research on time-traveling machines and going back to the past. But I'm over that idea; I want to know if we can create another life in a different timeline without affecting the present. So, the "criminals" you mentioned work with me to fulfill this idea. We call it project R.D., Reality Distortion. – My father explained, making me look at him, surprised.

-What about the money? – I asked.

-That money is only a distraction to keep the government out of my business. But I don't receive anything; everything is fake. – My father assured me.

-Project R.D. didn't have support from Yoo Seunghan. Right? – I deduced before looking at my father.

He nodded. -Yoo Seunghan didn't believe in project R.D., he wanted to reveal everything, and that couldn't happen. So, I did what I had to do to keep this idea alive. Of course, I'm sorry for my actions. Still, I don't regret it because I want a better future for you. – My father pointed out.

-Wait, for me? – I asked, confused.

-You are young and mighty. Project R.D. needs a subject to try it out since the device is almost in the last stage of construction. I believe you are the best person to use it for the first time and see what you can do in another timeline. – My father spoke before sitting next to me.

-These timelines won't mix between them. Right? – I questioned worriedly.

-Project R.D. allows you to move between timelines without intervening with other lives you have. Let me give you an example; you want to go back to 2016 and change something from your past. Let's say that you decide to become a solo artist, and so you live your life around different dreams and goals from the ones you had in your original year. And that's it; you continue growing up in that time without affecting the future of your first timeline. – My father explained, trying to describe everything the best way possible.

-And what about your other timelines when you decide to change to another one? – I asked curiously.

-It stays in an undefined pause, and whenever you want to retake it, you can. – My father assured me.

-Are there any restrictions when you travel between timelines? – I questioned.

-Yes, you have to clarify the year, the number of the day, and the hour. So, you can turn back time in any timeline if you felt that something didn't go as planned. – My father said before patting my kneecap.

I sighed before glancing at the clock beside the bed, and then I looked back at my father.

1:39 a.m.

-Tomorrow, you can visit the laboratory. And if you feel that you are ready to try it out, let me know. – My father spoke.

-Aren't you afraid that I might tell someone about it? – I questioned, confused.

-No, I can see in your eyes that you resonate with this idea and the project R.D. So, I'm sure of the trust I can give you. – My father admitted before standing up, and then he walked towards the door. -I'm glad that you see the vision that I worked hard to bring to life. – My father sincerely said before getting out of the bedroom.

I took a deep breath before walking towards the desk, and immediately I started to write the essential things that I should remember about this life.

I'll make it right for us, Taeyang. I promise that you won't lose anything, and you'll live without hatred in your heart.
