Kenric was feeling slightly better now. His hand wasn't broken and his burns had been healed. He got out of his cot and motioned to his mouth. Fintan laughed and said, ''You can speak now.'' Kenric opened his mouth and began. ''Why won't you let me go? I promise not to tell anyone! What do you want from me? My cache? It's with Oralie! My position in the council? Be my guest, take it! Pyrokinectics to not be banned anymore? I'll talk to the council! My suffering? I think I've already suffered enough! JUST LET ME GO, YOU PIECE OF TRASH!'' Fintan calmly watched him yell, and with every sentence, Fintan's fireball grew a little larger. Now it was as big as his head. Fintan replied, ''I don't want anything from you. I want the whole world to suffer. And I can't risk anything by letting you go. You got yourself into this, your royal scumbagness, and I won't let you get out of it. Follow me.'' Fintan lead Kenric into a little dim room with a sink, bed, and chair. Then he called another man into the room. He told the man, ''I need you to stay in the royal scumbag's head. If he shows any signs of trasmitting,'' he handed the man a fiery whip, ''be my guest. Got it?'' The man nodded and Fintan left the room. Kenric immediately looked to the man. ''You have to let me go. I swear not to tell anyone. The world needs me. You can kill me if I ever tell anyone. But please, let me go.'' Kenric begged the man. The man looked Kenric in the eye and said, ''Look, I'd love to let you go. You are one of my favourite councillors'' Kenric sighed with relief to know the man was on his side. ''But I can't. If I let you go, which I very much want to, he'll kill me. I never wanted to join him. But he kidnapped me and threatened me to join because he needed a strong telepath. I'm sorry, Councillor Kenric. I'm just as trapped as you are.'' Kenric's shoulders sank and his face fell. Suddenly, an idea struck him. ''But he never has to know! Just let me transmit to someone. You can lie to him! And when I leap away, you can say I knocked you out and leapt away! Please, I need to go.'' Kenric pleaded the man. ''That would definitely work,'' the man said, ''If I didn't have these strapped to me.'' The man showed Kenric two machines attached to his arms that continued flashing green and beeping. Kenric was horrified. "What are those?'' he whispered. ''They are a human invention called lie detectors. They can tell if I'm lying. They flash green when I'm telling the truth and they flash red when I'm lying. And if I take them off, they sound a loud alarm.'' The man looked like he was about to cry and he definitely looked worse off than Kenric. Kenric too was about to cry. ''How cruel can one be?'' he whispered. ''Oh, extremely cruel.'' A voice that wasn't Fintan replied.
