Myla met Belka's pale red eyes with her own brown ones and it took all her willpower not to wilt under the newcomers gaze.
So it's Belka, eh? Why is she looking at me like that? Does she know something I don't? These thoughts surfaced and raced through her head as she kept her gaze rested on Belka, until the teacher dismissed her to sit back down. She sighed, and went back to work, until class was dismissed.
"So...welcome to the school." Myla said, catching up to Belka in the hallway, after the bell rang.
"Yeah...it's pretty nice." Belka responded, pulling her books to her chest and speeding up a little.
"Hey, wait up! I wanna talk."
"Maybe later, I'm kinda busy right now." She replied, even though she was clearly not busy, and just using that excuse not to talk.
"Really?" Myla raised an eyebrow. "In that case, you look as busy as you were on the bus, which is definitely NOT busy."
She stopped suddenly, and glared at Myla, more annoyed than anything. "Could you just leave me alone?"
"Fine. But don't expect this to be the end of our conversation."
Belka ignored her and headed off to her next class, already somehow sure where to go. Myla decided to get to class as well, arriving with Belka a couple minutes late.
Another class with this girl? She thought, shaking her head. I wonder if she purposefully has the same classes as me. Nah, it's just a coincidence. Myla sat down, cleared her thoughts and opened her notebook to the required pages. She looked around, and once the teacher had his attention on the board, she brought out her phone and decided to update Rani on events that were happening.
"There's a new girl who just supposedly just started class at our school, and yet she already knows where to go..." She hit send and pocketed her phone again to wait until her sister responded. A couple minutes later, just after the teacher passed her seat, her phone chirped, startling Myla and making her flinch. She looked around again, then pulled out her phone.
The message read, "Hmmm, that's odd. What's her name?"
She typed a quick reply, "Belka."
Rani texted back almost instantly.
"Okay, keep an eye on her, would ya?"
"No problem, as it is we have like two classes with each other."
"Alright." Rani texted, ending their conversation. Fifteen minutes later, the bell rang, dismissing the students and ending that class. Myla caught Belka in the halls again.
"Hey."
"Hi." Belka responded, in a reserved tone.
Myla considered saying more, but just decided to leave it at that, and hurried off to her next class, thoughts drifting around in her head.
I hope I can get her used to me. But there's something about those red eyes that make me think there's something important about her.
