Myla could barely concentrate on school, with the prophecy still on her mind. Several times that day, the teacher called on her, and she had gotten the question wrong, even though she should've known that question. Her thoughts drifted to Belka, and then Rani, her sister. Her hand hovered over the phone in her pocket, indecisive if she should text her.

Nah. I'll just get more info then i'll text her. She thought, finally making up her mind.

The bell couldn't ring soon enough. But when it did, Myla gladly packed up and headed straight over to the public library, not giving it a second thought. The bell chimed as she pushed open the door, announcing her entrance.

Mrs. Lopez looked up, pushing her glasses up on her nose. "Well, hello Myla."

"Hello." Myla said, greeting the librarian.

"What can I help you with today?"

"Um, do you have anything on prophecies?"

The librarian lifted a carefully stenciled eyebrow. "Maybe, why?"

Myla looked down, and muttered a response. "School project." When she looked up, Mrs. Lopezs' eyebrow had raised another inch.

Ma'am, your eyebrows trying to escape. Myla couldn't resist thinking, the corner of her mouth twitching, but, with extreme difficulty, she kept her face neutral.

"I do believe there's books on that topic, in Aisle 3 Section 8." Mrs. Lopez said finally after pausing for a moment. Myla nodded, and headed back there, her footsteps muffled on the carpet, adding to the hushed whispers of the library. She briefly glanced at all the books in Aisle 3 until she came to her desired section, section 8. Rows of books were pressed neatly together, their covers touching. She scanned each one, running her fingers along their binders. Myla recognized most of the books as murder mysteries, with a fair amount of dark arts and spirits within their covers. But there was nothing on the Underground Nation. Disappointed, she exited the aisle.

"Hey, looking for this?" A voice said, shattering the silence of the library.

Myla whipped her head around, looking for the source of the voice, although she already knew who it was.

Nora stepped out from behind the end row for Aisle 3, holding a book in the air.

"Nora." Myla said quietly, finding her voice, eyes glancing at the book.

"Yes. That's my name." Nora said, just as haughtily as Myla had remembered.

Myla tilted her chin at the book. "Whatcha got there?"

"Oh, nothing, just the book you may quite possibly need."

"Which is...?"

Nora brang the book down from the air and read off its cover. "A Goblin's Guide to the Underground Nation, by Shinbi"

I narrowed my eyes at her, because the title sounded exactly like something I wanted.

"Give it here." I said ominously under my breath.

"What if I don't want to?" Nora replied, smirking.

"I'll make you."

"Really? In front of all these people?" Nora asked, gesturing to the kids and adults alike in the library, whispering to each other trying to decide what book they wanted.

"Maybe. Maybe not." Myla said, silently daring her to keep it away from her any longer. She wondered what had made Nora go back to her usual habits of sticking her nose in other people's business.

I guess leopards never change their spots. She mused then advanced on Nora.

Hiiiii

I apologize for keeping anyone who reads this story waiting- I know there's not many of you out there yet.

I've been super busy because of the stupid midterms deciding that they wanted to be this week, and not any later, so yeah.

And yes, the cover is being released this week, so that may have pushed it a little  further back, so in the mean time, expect the next few chapters to be released a little later, until I can get back on track again.

"I've been running through the jungle / I've been crying with the wolves / To get to you, to get to you"

Until next week
