A/N: First and foremost, all of this will be in third person, and reader is a female. I'm so sorry but you can definitely imagine it as gender neutral, and someday once I finish I might publish a gender neutral one!
Secondly, the plot will mostly follow the movie, but I added some changes so it's not repetitive. Also, this is my first time writing from the Stranger Things series, so bear with me!
Enjoy reading!

[Name] [Lastname] is in no way a social person. But she likes working with children, especially Holly Wheeler.
Holly likes to talk about her brother Mike, and how although he's distant and mean to her sometimes, she loves him all the same. But most of the time, she loves her older sister, Nancy, more. [Name] never really like to pick favorites, but upon meeting Mike Wheeler for the first time, she sort of understood.
[Name] is the new girl in town of Hawkins, Indiana. Her family came from [country/state], and although the move definitely resulted in bitterness, she still hopes that things will get better.
It was definitely weird, transferring in junior high, two years away from college. Also scary. She doesn't know these people. She doesn't know what makes them tick, nor what makes them leap. But from observing them through her mother's car everytime she's out, she doesn't want to know.
Before school started, her mother got her into a babysitting job just a couple of houses down. The Wheeler family. She knew them from middle high to high school apparently, and their eldest daughter had long moved out of the house to work, currently living with her long time partner--some guy named Jonathan, she wasn't really listening to her mom.
Holly is a delight.
She's worked with them for five times just this month, and the second time, Mike Wheeler came storming inside the house in a walkie talkie, screaming his lungs out at somebody on the other line about frogs. Minutes later, he came down from his room, and didn't even bat an eyelash at his sibling.
Fourth time, he came with a girl, but they didn't seem to notice her. She left early before she could meet them both.
Holly would often just shrug her shoulders as they color their own drawings.
"He's a bit of a girl. He likes to scream a lot."
Holly would say, followed by a giggle. She'd just reply with a short chuckle.

Tucking her oversized striped shirt over her high waisted jeans, [Name]'s eyes traveled to the door of her room to see her mother's form leaning by the frame with a small smile.
"Try and make friends, okay? They're good kids."
She gave a playful scoff and an eye roll, "oh, yeah, definitely."
"You just have to get to know Mike better, he's a good kid. And plus, I've met his friends--Lucas, Dustin, Jane and Will. Though personally, I think you'd like Will." Her mother wiggled her eyebrows in a suggestive manner, causing the girl to yell in reprimand.
"Mom! I haven't even seen the guy!"
Thinking about it, both her parents has already met Mike's friends, but she's never even seen them remotely close to where she goes. Although finding it weird, she blames it all on cosmic fate.
Her mom just waved a hand, "yeah alright. Don't forget Molly's gift, okay? Greet her a happy birthday from me, I gotta go now. Preston just called me, said there's some emergency at the store," her voice's volume decreased as she left the hallway, "dad! Hurry up, [Nickname]'s almost done! You get ready longer than women do!"
