Chapter 4

In which Keigo gets
a spark of happiness.

When Keigo woke the next morning, he was surprised to see that he had slept in past his usual one of 5 or 6AM. He found it a little odd, but left it go otherwise. With much regret, he got up and went to go get a shower. Yawning as he woke up in the warm water. Not wanting to be awake at all right now. Still upset about yesterday. Who wouldn't be? He had told the love of his life that their family would grow and they got angry and left. He was heartbroken. He shook his head with the thought and got out of the shower. Sighing softly as he fluffed out his hair with a towel. Wrapping that semi-dry towel around his waist and heading back into the bedroom.

Keigo picked out something to wear. Not planning on doing anything today, except having Rumi over to call the Commission. His heart dropped again at the notion of taking a break from hero work. He pulled on some underwear, a pair of lose fitting jeans and a t-shirt. Going to hang his towel up and brush his teeth as well. After he was done, he headed into the kitchen to make himself something that he could stomach.

Deciding on some toast and tea. Not the best combo, but it was all he really wanted right now anyways. Keigo knew that pregnancy can cause odd cravings. He wondered if that came with the later stages of it. The bird was lost in thought when he heard his door being knocked on alongside a woman calling for him outside of it. He smirked and went over to open the door for Rumi. She gave a small sigh, that almost sounded relieved to see that the other had gotten on the move by himself after yesterday.

"I should just get you a key of your own..." he smirked as she barged in past him, inviting herself inside his apartment.
"You know... that would probably be beneficial." She said. The blonde blinked, unsure if she was kidding or not. He just left it go. Locking the door behind her and going after her into the living room. Rumi sat down on the couch and sighed gently as she waited for the other join her there.
"Wait. Are we calling them now?" Keigo asked not really prepared to say, that he was pregnant and was taking off of work. He was still in shock.

"Well, that is what I came over for. Besides, I figured it would be best to rip the "bandaid" off all at once. You know? Instead of something happening while you're at work or them finding out via media leak." She said proving a few points. The bird rubbed the back of his neck and exhaled gently.
"Yeah... Guess you're right. I just don't know-" he tried to explain what he was feeling.
"How they'll react? Knowing them, they'll be happy for you starting a family." She said smiling softly and reaching to put a gentle hand on his shoulder.

"You think?" Keigo said softly as he was already pulling his phone out to make that call.
"Yeah, and if they don't... I'll have a few choice words for them." She winked reassuringly. The blonde gave a small smirk and nodded.
"Alright..." he chuckled softly. Taking a deep breath before pulling up the contact and pressing the call button. It rang a few times before a woman picked up.
"Hello, this is the Hero Public Safety Commission. Can I ask who's calling?" A woman answered.

"Yumiko-san, It's Keigo. May I be forwarded to his office please?" He asked nervously biting his lip. The woman on the other end seemed to drop her facade, and left out a sigh.
"Alright. Please hold." She said softly and then he was given that awful elevator music he hated so much. Keigo huffed a little and glanced over to Rumi to see her giving him a gentle look. Edging him on. They both know this is for the best. It didn't take long until a male picked up the phone.

"Ah, Takami-san. Great to hear from you." The blonde froze at the male's voice. Things rushing at him. He was silent for a moment. Before taking a moment to calm himself. "Is there something I can help you with?" The new head of the Commission asked.
"Yes, Toshinori-sama, I... um... I need to take a break from Hero work for a little while." Keigo stuttered out.
"What's the reason for the absence?" The older blonde asked over the phone.
