Max and Monty are dump trucks.

They work for the Sodor Construction Company, taking building debris to Whiff's Waste Dump.

But they are well known for causing trouble.

"Coming through!" clattered Max.

He rushed across the tracks in front of Gordon.

"WATCH OUT!" bellowed Gordon.

"Dump trucks ahoy!" yelled Monty.

He rolled out in front of Rebecca and spun around, making her stop.

"MONTY!" she snapped.

The two dump trucks laughed as they rolled away.

But they always get their comeuppance when Miss Jenny Packard tells them off after somebody like the Fat Controller complains about them causing confusion and delay to things such as the Express.

One day, Thomas and Percy struggled into the Waste Dump with some Troublesome Trucks, just as Max and Monty arrived with some waste from a building site.

(Whiff can be seen shunting.)

"You two look pooped," teased Max.

"We are," huffed Thomas.

"These trucks are so troublesome," grumbled Percy.

The two dump trucks laughed.

"You two little engines can't handle some little trucks?" sniggered Monty.

Thomas and Percy felt insulted.

"I'd like to see you two keep some Troublesome Trucks," said Thomas crossly.

"We never need to," said Max.

"We run on roads, not rails," added Monty.

Then they dumped their waste and spun back to the building site, leaving Thomas and Percy fuming.

On the way, they decided to speed around on the railway lines again, but didn't notice Nia coming up the line with some empty trucks.

"Max! Monty! Look out!"

Nia stopped just in time, but the sudden stop bumped her brake van off the track.

"Honestly, you two," she said crossly, "you're about as troublesome as Troublesome Trucks!"

But Max and Monty didn't care. They were having too much fun.

Nia complained to the Fat Controller at the Docks.

(Salty, Cranky, Carly and Big Mickey can be seen there.)

"I'll telephone Miss Jenny," appeased the Fat Controller.

Meanwhile, Max and Monty were causing trouble with Jack.

"Will you two stop spinning around?" he complained. "I can't keep my bucket still enough to fill you up!"

"Hahaha!" laughed Monty.

"You really Can't take a joke!" added Max.

Jack rolled his eyes. He knew that if this behaviour continued, Miss Jenny would have stern words for the two dump trucks.

Jack was right.

Miss Jenny was waiting for them but when they saw her approach, they quickly dieseled away with their next loads, hoping to avoid another telling off.

"Urgh!" exclaimed Miss Jenny. "Those two dump trucks would never make a mother proud! It'll be a cold day in summer before I trust them to behave for a whole day!"
