at the winding twilight, jimin stood outside the practice room, listening to chaeyoung's sweet voice as she sang inside of it. he paced back and forth, trying to figure out what to say.

realizing that he probably would never know, because he's simply horrible with those things (he'd rather die than apolize first), he wiped his sweaty palms onto his jeans, took a deep breath, and went inside.

chaeyoung sat in the middle of the room, music notes and her guitar case sprawled about, a single spotlight shining down on her ethereal form. she looks like an angel, thought jimin.

she looks up to see him entering. maybe he imagined it, but she didn't once look him in the eye. she stopped singing.

jimin tried as quietly as he could to sit next to her. chaeyoung didn't spare him a glance and only kept scribbling on the music sheets.

"i'm sorry." he said, right in the middle of the piercing silence between them. "i only came to say that what i said was stupid and that i'm really, really sorry." jimin's voice was low, not wanting to disturb the girl any more than he has, but still hoping she hears her.

"so you finally figured out what you said wrong, huh?" she snided. she finally looks at him in all his criss cross applesauce sitting glory.

"yeah, and it was just supposed to be a joke, but i'm sorry if i hurt you. i really didn't mean to. i didn't know about your dad. i seem to always get myself into trouble because of my jokes." he chuckled lightly.

chaeyoung sighed, hesitating in the beat of silence.

and then, she spoke.

"he and my mom used to argue a lot. i remember me and alice locking ourselves in our room all afternoon." a frown had grown on her face. "and then, he left. he still sends us birthday cards but i guess you'd find that envelopes with a couple bucks aren't enough to make up for the absence of a father." she chuckled sadly.

jimin's heart squeezed for her. "i'm sorry i didn't know."

"it's okay." she said. "i'm sorry for ignoring you even though i knew that you had no idea why."

a bag rustled behind jimin, and then a thought struck him. "oh, wait!" he reached behind him and presented to her a brown bag with grease spots coating the outside. "it's a hotdog. i know you really like food and we went all over LA just to find the best one, and this is it, i think. i figured i'd bring you one." he blushed cutely.

chaeyoung laughed at the boy. "well, thank you. i do like food."

if there's anything jimin knew about women, it's that they all really like food. score!

"so, uh, we're good?" jimin wondered, scratching the back of his neck. "well, you brought me a hotdog, how can i not forgive you?" she smiled, lighting up the room.

"wow, thanks..." he paused. "honey." he drawled, moving quickly from shy and awkward to flirty.

the wife in question's eyebrows met and she pointed a finger up to the boy beside her. "yah, don't push it."
