Chapter 28-Harry
My stylist fixed my beanie on my head. Its funny, she really had to fight to make sure I had this crazy thing with me. I feel like it would hold me back again, but she insisted on me wearing it int he arena. I suppose its whatever she wants, right?
"Why exactly do I need to wear this?" I asked her as she loaded me up o nthe dock, the one that would lift me up to the arena.
"You'll see when you need something the most," she said with a clever smile.
"What do you me-"
Before I could get all the words out, the class door was shut, blocking my voice from being heard.
I turned around just as the tube started to lift me up. I saw the grassy arena in view, and looked around at the other competitors that were coming up. We were all dressed nearly the same, except for our variations. Like those Irish ones, wearing their shamrocks. And the girl form District 12 was wearing a cross, which was sort of unlike that of the district that she comes from. They were predominantly muslim.
Countdown 60......
I looked for Addy, who stood securely in her tube, waiting for the glass to be lifted, and to be thrust into the wildnerness. A wave of guilt and anguish flooded through me, but at the same time that guilt and anguish was mingled with the love that I have for her, even if she couldn't reciprocate those same feelings in full. I can't say I blame Louis for wanting to protect her. Those were my exact same feelings.
Memories of this morning came crashing into my mind. Who would have thought so much had happened in half an hour?
If you want to live, you'll play along...
..since she's so in love with Louis....
But I love you a lot too...
I came back to my senses when I could feel the pulsing beats of a countdown from ten.
ten...
my eyes darted around.
nine...
I cleared my mind of every thought
eight...
I turned on the charm.
seven...
I eyed the weapons table.
six...
I moved slightly, readying myself
five...
I squinted my eyes.
four...
Animal instinct kicked in
three...
A low growl escaped my throat, throwing off the ladies around me.
two...
Every thought of Addy disappeared from mind.
one...
GONG!
Let the games begin.
