Chapter 2

Harry

I put on my best sly face and approached this girl.

"Hey," I said. "My name's Harry."

"Seleen," she responded.  Before she could say anything else the bells rang out, and I was being dragged away from the beautiful girl. When I was finally stopped, I was smacked across the head.

"OUCH!" I turned around to find an old buddy, Jonathon. "What the hell was that for?"

"That's my sister!"

"Oops,"  I smirked as I walked over to the spot designated for cheeky boys my age. Seventeen.  Wow, I'm so old.

"Ladies and gentlemen of District 1," the old man on the stage called out loudly. The square became eerily quiet, and everyone's attention was on the wrinkly old man.  Not that I had anything against wrinkly old men, but, you know, their not me.

We went through the same old tradition of watching this old video. The Games was formed because of war and turmoil throughout the old of the United Kingdom. When everything was at its worst, the government rose up to save its people. Now we have these games in honor of those people who have saved us all from who knows what.

I've had that passage memorized for as long as I could remember.  It wasn't hard to remember such a short passage, but it was hard to wrap your mind around the meaning behind it.

When the video ended, the drawing began. Even when we had these games, ladies always went first. Society rules, I guess.

"Seleen Thomas!" the old man said. I looked back over at that girl as she walked slowly with the guards up to the stage. So she was going to the games? Huh.

I was completely concentrated on that girl, until my name rattled through the air.

"Harry Styles!"

Niall

I stood among thses shower of cunts. I didn't like any of them.  I really didn't.  Maybe I would like them more if it wasn't for the fact that our destinies were about to be decided. I didn't like that at all.  I guess I was just aggravated. Aggravated at society, yeah.

There were all these girls huddled up in their sections. Poor girls.  They are probably going to be called, and some handsome fellow is gonna get called, and they are gonna spend all their time with each other, until they die.  Everyone from this district dies. Its just a fact of life. I don't think anyone from this district has ever won.

"Mikayla Dolby!" the woman at the front shouted.  There were little cheers for this girl.  Everyone knew her fate. She knew it, too, but refused to show it.

"Niall Horan!"

I froze.  My name was called out? Oh God, I didn't want to die. But, then again, I could die protecting Mikayla. Hmm....I guess I could live with that. I walked up to the stage and stood awkwardly on the other side of the man. Why was I so awkward? I was usually so good with adapting to new environments. Apparently not, considering this new environment involved a pretty girl and knowing that I was going to die.

Liam

Why does this always happen to me?

I'm the good one, and I'm called into the games.   I just wanted a life. A normal, care free, innocent life.  Now I'm gonna die. I'm gonna die side by side with this girl that I like a lot, Danielle.  And to think, I was gonna ask her out when this was all over, taking that she wouldn't be in the games. Nope.  That's never gonna happen.

"Shake hands" the man said.

I offered a shaking hand over to her. 'Don't I know you?" she mouthed over to me.

I nodded my head. I couldn't believe she didn't know who I was.  Granted, I know I'm not that popular and stuff, but still.  We've been in the same classes since kindergarten.  She should have at least known my name. I was so dumb to think I'd ever have a chance with her.

Louis

I had a hand on my hip, waiting impatiently for the drawing to begin.  Where was our representative?  I just wanted to get these over with.  I didn't even care if I got called, I just didn't want to stand here anymore. I like absolutely none of these guys. They were just....no, it would take to long to explain my hatred for these dumbasses.

I saw an older woman walk up on the stage. Could this be her?  She tapped the microphone, and her beat echoed through the plaza. Finally!

"Hello everyone," she said in a frail voice.  I almost felt sorry for her. She had to announce the children who were about die.  She went through procedure about how  the games started, how we came to what we are now, and blah blah blah. I've heard this same speech since I was about twelve. Lucky me, I haven't been called into the games yet.  I'm the worst when it comes to sass, so you'd think they'd want to get rid of me first. But they didn't, which is very surprising.

I really shouldn't have spoken so soon.

She called the girl first. "Maria Gomez!"

A girl who looked Latin waltzed up to the stage like she owned the place. I swear, if I was the guy that was called up, I'd show this hoe who was boss. Then I heard my name.

"Louis Tomlinson!"

Time to show who the real queen of the land is. I stepped out of the ropes and strut down the middle like it was the catwalk. I sauntered onto the stage and took my place on the other side of the woman. I gave that Maria girl 'the look', showing her I meant business.

Zayn

"Sarah Oajkley!"  the man called.

A girl walked up, wearing a wrap around her head. Oh goodness, her parents must be strict. I know I'm muslim, but my sisters don't have to wear the head dress. Its just not our style.

"Zayn Malik!"

That got my attention.  What?! My name was announced? They have got to be joking. But they called my name again. I still wasn't so sure.

"Mr. Malik, I can see you tall hair from up here!" the man called out. I blushed and walked slowly up to the stage.  All eyes were on me. I felt like I was gonna get shot at.

"Hello, love," the girl said. I gave a small wave and looked away.  I didn't want to be here.  I didn't want to compete in these games.  All I wanted to be was with my parents again.  I felt like crying, but I couldn't.  There was no reason to.  Even if I made it out, nothing was going to be the same.
