Chapter 16--Harry

This Addy girl could seriously run.

She had us running all over the place.  I was trying to keep up, only a few steps behind this gazelle.  Louis, on the other hand, was barely keeping up.  I wonder what his motive was, because I had only known this girl in my dreams for a little bit, and he was supposedly her "best friend." So what was up with him slacking off?

For some reason, maybe because of his connection to Addy, I didn't like Louis one bit.  He had this attitude that apparently appealed to her. He was extremely sassy, and I didn't like it.  Men shouldn't behave like he does. I guess I'm just a little intimidated by him.  I guess if I'm gonna get to Addy, I'm gonna have to stand up above him.

The bell gonged, signalling the training to be over. Poo. Louis ran up behind her, and threw him over her shoulder.  It was actually kind of cute.  I wish I could do that to her...

Stop, Harry, you'll get your chance.

I wondered off, looking for Seleen. I was calmed a bit, and I cared enough about her to wonder where she was at. I saw her over with the tributes from District 4. She looked like she was having a lot of fun. Like she wasn't sexually frustrated or anything. It was weird, that she could move onthat quick.  Then again, I moved on just as quick.

I walked up nervously, tapping her on the shoulder. She turned around, the look of happiness disappearing.

"What do you want, Harry?"

"I-I just wanted to talk to you for a second. Could you spare one?"

She huffed. "I guess."

We walked off, leaving the Irish ones there. When we stopped, we just stayed in silence.

"What did you want?" she asked, apparently annoyed.

"I just wanted to aplogize."

"For what?"

"For leading you on, playing you, and leaving you in the dirt. It wasn't fair for you. And the way I treated you afterward didn't make things better.  So, I'm sorry."

She just stood there for a second. Time slowed, leaving me standing there for a really long time. Eventually, things came back up to speed.

"I don't forgive you," she said.  My heart sank, but I suppose she had a right. "I mean, I can't.  You played me hard, Harry. I can move on, but I'm just not ready to let this go."

I took a deep breath. I could--or would have to--accept that for now.

"Thanks," I said. "I just had to say that. Bye, Seleen."

"Bye, Harry."

I turned around, wishing that my mood would magically change.

I saw Louis start to lean in. And boy, did my mood magically change.

I half walked, half ran over to Louis and Addy, hoping to make them jump a bit.

"Hey guys!" I said obnoxiously. Louis turned around, looking a little pissed. Success. Addy shot him an apologetic look. Louis just glared at me.  I smiled, pretending I didn't kow what I just did. It was sort of funny, seeing Louis' reaction.  Addy didn't look happy, but more relieved than anything.

"Hey, Harry," Addy said with a weak laugh. "Hey, can I talk you to? Like, in private?"

"Sure,"

We walked off a bit, leaving Louis fuming. We finally stopped at a good distance, then I spoke up.

"So what do you want to talk about?" I asked her, starting to feel a bit nervous all of the sudden.

"Why do you and Louis hate each other?" she asked in a rush.

"uhmm..." I said.  How could I put this without being insulting? "I just don't like how he's got this attitude that somehow appeals to you.  Or any female.  It seems that he can get along with just about anyone, and that's something I just can't do."

"But what's that got to do with hating Louis?" she asked. "What's he ever done to you?"

"Being with you!" I said before I could think of what I was saying. "Really, like him being with you is making me jealous. There, I said it!"

We both went silent.  Addy looked like she was taking all this in.  She really looked exhausted. Maybe something happened with Louis....

"When did this come on?" Addy asked in a monotonous tone.

"I guess its when I realized how wrong it was when I was with my partner, Seleen. It didn't feel right."

She just stayed silent, closing her eyes and taking a few deep breaths. She let out a small laugh. "I don't know what's up with people falling for me.  Louis did the exact same thing not even ten minutes ago."

"So he likes you too?"

She nodded her head. "He does."

All I needed was that information.  Now all I needed was her trust...
