Chapter 6

Zayn

I think its finally decided. We went with Luther's original idea, of dressing in unnatural colors. Its seemed so stupid at first, but when we got dressed, it seemed like the plan was to dazzle the audience with our flash colors and distract the audience from the other districts. We were the Other District. But we would be the Unforgotten District after these games, that's for sure!

I was dressed in a dark brown, accented with gold thread. Yeah, real gold this time. I'm not sure where Xos gets the money to make real gold thread, but whatever works, I say. There were brighter blues, almost too unnatural, like they weren't real.

Sarah was dressed similar to me. She didn't like the idea of distracting others. I guess she was just that conservative. She was in a dark gray outfit, which somehow seemed to match perfectly with my chocolate brown. It was flooded with blue and specks of green emeralds. Yep, real emeralds

“Perfect!” Luther said, kissing his fingertips. “This will definitely get you noticed!”

“Or killed...” Sarah mumbled under her breath.

Luther ignored the comment. “So let's go get into the chariots and get ready to go.”

We walked out into the commons, where the horses were at the ready. Let's get this over with...

Liam

I was with our stylist, Marken, who was a girl, and Danielle was in the same room.

I was so embarrassed.

Honestly, I think our stylist is an idiot. She had us in purple outfits, fitted with teddy bears. Teddy bears! We were an innocent district, not freakin' five year olds!

Danielle laughed at my frustration. “Hey, Liam, don't worry. Its only one night.”

“But you look good in teddy bears!” I said. “I'm just...ugh this is ugly why do I have to wear this?”

“Are you saying that my artwork sucks?”

This girl was definitely an idiot. “Love, compared to this, artwork is a coloring book pitcure with random scribbles on it.”

Danielle smacked my arm. “Ow!”

“Apologize to her!”

I looked back at Marken. Yep, she was about to cry.

“Look, Marken, I'm sorry. But I don't like these outfits. They don't show off the district well.”

“Then what do you suggest I do?”

Huh, hadn't thought of that. I turned to Danielle. “What do we do?”

“Hey! This is your fight~ I didn't complain about the outfits. I think they look cute!”

“You're such a girl...” I mutter to myself. “Let's see...what's in our district that is memorable?”

“Nothing,” Danielle said. “Just a bunch of good kids never getting in trouble.”

“OH! I know! What about that fountain in the middle of Times Plaza?”

“What so memorable about a swan?” Marken said. She thought for a second. “Oh, I got it! We'll go a swan direction!”

We eventually got dressed, and, I must say, my idea was brilliant. I was okay being dressed in a white shirt, with khakis, and feathers sticking out here and there. Danielle looked gorgeous. Her dress was almost feathers.
