"Evil-blooded? Norman?" Y/N questioned, Emma leaning forwards slightly. "You know about them? Her? Norman?" Emma asked.

"I've only heard about her existence, really." Norman began, shifting his gaze up towards the three. "'A demon who has never eaten a human. A single one. She's a special individual who can maintain her form and intelligence.. much of a humans.. without eating them.' Her existence had been on record since around seven-hundred years ago. After the promise, but before the farming system was established. She first appeared as some sort of savior in a starving town."

"A savior?" Emma asked.

Y/N leaned forwards in interest, while Ray watched in silence.

"She could only give her power to others who had her blood," Norman continued, "with just a sip of her blood, a demon could obtain the same body composition as her. They also gained the ability to create the same type of demons with their own blood.."

"So you're saying.." Emma's voice trailed off, as Y/N furrowed their eyebrows. "They were—on their own—able to create demons that wouldnt deform.. or degenerate.. without consuming humans?" They asked, earning a nod in response from Norman.

"Afterward, the surrounding communities ended up sharing her ability.. power.. escaping famine, and extinction. But the king.. and the nobles who found out captured nearly all of the affected demons.. they killed and ate everyone with that blood. It's best to assume the others ended up dying anyways. By process of elimination... records state that she was also eaten and killed. But she survived...?" Norman said, leaning forwards as he rested his elbows on the table.

"So they were traveling to avoid being captured." Ray said, as Y/N hesitated, scanning over Normans face.

He looked different.

It had been said before.

But he matured.. and looked grown up.

It was odd.

It never really occurred to them that the warm, happy smiles were all for Emma.

Maybe it wasn't supposed to be odd.

Maybe this was Norman after all.

"Hey," Emma began, furrowing her eyebrows. "I still don't understand. Why.. why did the king and nobles eat.. Mujika's friends..?"

"Because they feared her blood. Her power."

"Why?" Emma immediately shot back. "There's nothing scary about it. If they use that blood, they wouldn't need to eat humans anymore!"
