August was also a hot month. For the most part, Lucy, Draco and her brothers played down in the river behind the Parcivall Manor. It was a temporary fix to the blithering heat that struck England. Towards the end of the month, the Parcivall family made their way to Diagon Alley. It would be Reuben's last year without shopping for himself as he would finally be attending Hogwarts with his siblings next year.
Alissa and Lucy began their way through the alley, while the boys followed Ellion. After getting through most of the shops, Lucy was about to enter Flourish and Blotts when she ran into Hermione, Harry and Ron leaving, looking unpleased.
"Hiya Hermione!" Lucy squealed, giving her friend a hug. "Hi Harry, Ron." She continued.
"Hi Lucy, how are you?" Hermione asked kindly.
"Good thank you!" Lucy exclaimed. "Mother, this is Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley and Harry Potter." Lucy turned to Alissa who gave her friends a warm smile. Lucy turned and saw Hermione had a look of disappointment on her face.
"You alright Hermione?" Lucy asked.
"Yeah, we just had a run in with Draco and his father." She answered. Harry and Ron looking on unimpressed.
"Oh, really?" Lucy responded quietly. The four of them exchanged glances for a moment until Alissa spoke.
"Come on, Lucy. We've got to keep moving. It was lovely to meet you all." Lucy looked from her mother to her friends.
"I'll see you guys in a few days!" Lucy exclaimed excitedly, as she parted ways with the trio. Behind them a small red-haired girl, with similar features to Ron was walking beside an older red-haired man, who gave Alissa a smile.
When Lucy entered Flourish and Blotts she realised it was absolutely crowded. She squeezed past some people and grabbed what books she needed before finding her mother speaking with Mr. Malfoy.
"Hello Lucy." He said to her as she came over.
"Hello Mr. Malfoy." Lucy responded politely. And noticed that familiar white-haired boy she had been seeing all summer near the side of the shop, looking at some books. Her mother took the books in her arms as Lucy walked over.
"Hello Draco." Lucy said, startling him.
"Hey." He said, trying to keep his cool.
"I ran into Hermione, Harry and Ron just outside." She began, watching him to see if his expression would change at all. It didn't. He almost looked completely unbothered by her comment. "What happened?" She asked.
"Nothing much." He replied, shifting his gaze for only a moment to meet her eyes. She watched him as he put the book he was holding back on the shelf. He turned to face her. "He was just being his pathetic, usual self." He said with disgust.
Lucy looked up at him confused. "Who?" she questioned.
"Who do you think?" Draco snapped. "Potter." He answered after a few seconds.
Lucy rolled her eyes. "Honestly Draco, this obsession you have for Harry is getting kind of out of hand." She said jokingly. He stared at her and Lucy thought he might yell at her, but instead he threw his head back and laughed.
"If anyone is obsessed with someone here, it's you." He chuckled.
"Oh, really? And who on earth would I be obsessed with, Draco?" Lucy asked, shaking her head at him.
Draco shifted his weight and brought his face closer to hers, until Lucy could swear she felt the heat from his breath, "why, me of course." He declared.
"Oh, Draco." Lucy sighed. "If that's what you tell yourself to help you sleep at night." She continued, before waltzing back over to where her mother and Mr. Malfoy were standing. Draco following close behind her.
"This isn't over, Parcivall." Draco whispered to Lucy; a shiver went down her spine as his lips were practically touching her skin. They stood before their parents as though nothing had even happened.
Alissa paid for the books and her and Lucy made their way out into the Alley, Mr. Malfoy and Draco following behind them.
"Well, until next time, Lucius. Draco." Alissa said, heading off towards Ellion and the boys.
"See you in a few days, Draco." Lucy said turning to Draco and giving him a quick smirk. "Mr. Malfoy." She said, nodding towards him, before turning and following her mother.
The Parcivall's made their way back to their Manor for the last couple of nights spent as a whole family.
The next day, Lucy finished packing her things. She was excited for her second year at Hogwarts.
