The following months passed by quickly, Lucy and Tina kept busy with classes during the week and quidditch on the weekends when Slytherin was playing. They successfully managed not to receive any more pranks from Pansy after a plan of hers backfired and she ended up with green hair for a week.

Grayson and Lucy headed home for the Easter break and were welcomed home by their father's parents, from France. They had been staying with their family for a few days over Easter. During this time Lucy had been given a list of third year classes, she needed to decide soon which ones she was going to be taking in the next school year.

It was bittersweet saying goodbye to her family at the end of the break, but Lucy was excited to see her friends again.

"Hey." Lucy said, sitting down next to Draco on the train ride home.

"Hey." He said smiling. He was sitting with Crabbe, Goyle and Theo and the four of them talked about their break for a few minutes before Tina had found and joined them for the remainder of the ride.

MAY 1993

Lucy headed to the Slytherin common room to find Tina after she and Draco had finished their potions homework for the day. As she neared the corner, she overheard two boys talking.

"We need to find Lucy and tell her." She heard.

As she turned the corner she came face to face with a worried Ron and Harry. "Tell me what?" She asked quizzingly.

"Don't panic," Harry began, "But there was another attack." He said, looking unsure on how to proceed with his next choice of words.

"Oh no." Lucy said shocked. "Who?" She asked, looking at both Ron and Harry, neither of them saying anything. "Well?" Lucy pushed.

Suddenly Ron blurted out "it's Hermione. Hermione was petrified!"

Lucy dropped her books in shock and stumbled backwards, flustered, she quickly dropped to her knees to collect her books.

"Lucy?" Harry quietly asked, watching her not moving from the ground. He knelt in front of her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "She's going to be okay. You should go visit her, in the hospital wing." Harry added. Lucy looked up into his green eyes, both filled with panic. She nodded in response and the two of them slowly stood.

"Thank you, for letting me know." Was all she managed to say, giving a half smile to both boys before quickly dashing past them and picking up her pace until she was standing in front of the Hospital wing.

"Hello dear." Madam Pomfrey said, noticing Lucy looking into the wing. "You're here for Miss Granger?" She asked her. Lucy nodded and shifted her gaze to her. "She's over there." Madam Pomfrey added, pointing to the end of the wing. Lucy followed the direction and found a stiff and cold Hermione laying on one of the hospital cots.

"Oh, Hermione." Lucy whispered, grasping her hand. She stayed with her for what seemed like hours until Madam Pomfrey told her she needed to head back to her common room.

Over the next week Harry and Ron occasionally popped in to see Hermione, as well as Lucy and Tina and Harry told the girls that Madam Sprout was working tirelessly to get the Mandrakes to a mature age, once that happened, they would be able to chop them up, stew them and get the students un-petrified. Lucy prayed it wouldn't be long and that no more students were attacked.

"Can I try and distract you with dress pictures?" Tina quietly asked Lucy. They were sitting in the library with Lisa, half wasting time, half finishing work.

Lucy looked to Tina and nodded. "It might help." Lucy responded. She had been so worried about Hermione and had visited her every chance she got.

"Okay, so my choices are down to these three. Which one do you like best?" Tina said excitedly, showing Lisa and Lucy the pictures. One was of a short, white, lace halter neck dress, one was a short, spaghetti strap, black sparkly flare dress and the third was a long, pink sequined dress.

"I like the black one." Lucy said, looking over the pictures before her.

"Me too." Lisa answered. Handing them back to Tina who was smiling, happy with her choice.

Lucy had barely thought about what she would be wearing to the dance but welcomed the distraction for the time.

Lucy was sitting in the common room at the end of the month with Tina when Draco came in, followed by Crabbe and Goyle. He had a proud look on his face.

"What's going on?" She said, barely lifting her gaze from her book.

"Someone's been taken." He said. Lucy dropped her book and stood up, shortening the space between them. She had to tilt her head upwards to look up to him.

"Who?" She asked shakily.

"I heard it's Weasley's sister." Draco answered. Lucy felt horrible, she sat back on the couch as Draco, Crabbe and Goyle laughed to themselves.

"But, she's pure-blood." Lucy looked up confused. "I thought you said it kills muggle-born?" Lucy asked. Draco just shrugged.

"I guess whatever or whoever took her no longer has a preference." Draco teased.

"That's not funny Draco. Someone could get seriously hurt." Lucy worryingly spoke.

"Oh, lighten up Parcivall. God, why do you have to take everything to heart." Draco asked, an annoyed tone filled his voice.

"I don't. I just take things more seriously than you obviously do." Lucy snapped, grabbing her book and heading upstairs to her dorm. She had a rush of anger and frustration towards him in that moment and knew the best thing would be to remove herself from the situation so that she wouldn't say or do anything she couldn't take back.

It was a long night inside the castle, as nobody knew anything. Lucy tried her best to get some sleep, but she was only tossing and turning. Eventually she felt her mind relax and she fell asleep, welcoming the numb feeling.
