After breakfast Lucy and Tina headed back to their dorm where they collected their books for first class. Tina had herbology first so they decided they would catch up after class.
Lucy gathered her equipment for potions and made her way to the classroom. When she got there, there were already two other students finding their seats. Lucy found a table to the side and sat her satchel down next to her. A few minutes passed and her Ravenclaw friend Lisa came into the classroom. Lucy's face lit up as Lisa made her way over to sit with her. Eventually Draco walked in and found a spot next to her. The rest of the students in potions ended up being mostly Ravenclaw and Slytherin.
During class, Lucy managed to explain to Lisa what happened with Pansy and the two of them discussed what kind of punishment Professor Snape might give her.
At the end of class Lucy began to pack up her things when a shadow loomed over her. She immediately knew who it was. Turning slowly, Professor Snape stood in front of her.
"Ms. Accrington informed me this morning that you cursed your fellow Slytherin, Miss. Parkinson. Is this true?" he drawled, raising his eyebrow at her.
Lucy dropped her head in shame, "yes sir, it's true." She answered, avoiding his stare.
"And what, Miss. Parcivall, made you attack Miss. Parkinson?" He continued. Lucy felt horrible now that he was telling her off.
"She kept accusing me of things, things that weren't true and when I told her to stop, she kept going. I'm sorry sir, I didn't mean to do it. I just got so angry." Lucy confessed. She finally got the courage to look up to him.
His expression didn't change as he spoke, "five points, will be taken from Slytherin house, for your serious lack of wisdom." Lucy dropped her head in embarrassment. "And," he continued. Lucy couldn't imagine it could get any worse, but he proved her wrong, "you will do a week's worth of detention. At the end of classes each day, you will report back here. Now get out." He finished, walking back to his desk. Lucy took the opportunity to grab her things and run out of the classroom.
After the break, Lucy had Defense Against the Dark Arts, with Tina and Draco. On the way to class, Lucy told the two what had happened at the end of potions class.
"Why did you even curse Pansy in the first place?" Draco asked, looking over at Lucy.
"It doesn't matter now." Lucy answered, quickly changing the subject.
The three of them found their seats in the classroom and their new teacher stood above them, watching them. "Let me introduce you to your new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher," he began, with half the girls in the class admiring his handsome features, "me! Gilderoy Lockhart, Order of Merlin, Third Class, Honorary Member of the Dark Force Defense League, and five-times winner of Witch Weekly's Most-Charming-Smile-Award – but I don't talk about that. I didn't get rid of the Bandon Banshee by smiling at him." He paused, quietly chuckling to himself.
Lucy looked over at Hermione who was acting much like a fangirl towards the Professor. "Now! Be warned! It is my job to arm you against the foulest creatures known to wizard kind. You may find yourselves facing your worst fears in this room. Know only that no harm can befall you whilst I am here." Professor Lockhart continued. Making his way to a cloth covering something. "I must ask you not to scream. It might... provoke them!" He exclaimed, yanking the cloth to reveal a cage full of pixies.
"Cornish pixies?" Seamus Finnigan, a Gryffindor boy asked.
"Freshly caught Cornish pixies!" Professor Lockhart responded. Seamus began laughing with Neville. "Laugh if you will Mr. Finnigan, but pixies can be devilish tricky little blighters. Let's see what you make of them!" He yelled, opening the cage.
