The start of June meant the end of the school year once again. The rest of classes for the few weeks that followed the feast were more carefree and enjoyable.
Lucy and Draco had been spending some time in the warm sun outside for his birthday. It was nearing the end of the day, and Lucy and Draco were perched on the bridge, watching the sunset. Lucy was close enough to Draco that their shoulders brushed up against each other if they moved even an inch.
She looked over at him and smiled.
"I hope you've had a good day." She said quietly, pulling his concentration from the falling sun to her.
"I have. Thank you." He replied.
"Here." She said to him, handing him a small box wrapped in black parchment. "Happy birthday." She said quietly and watched as he opened his present. Inside a silver ring, with the shape of a snake on it. Lucy watched contentedly as he smiled at it.
"This is perfect. Thank you." He replied, touching the ring with his finger. He carefully placed the lid back on the box and put it in his pocket.
The two of them looked out to the fading colours in front of them, taking in the beautiful array of lights. Once the sun was completely gone, and they sky began to fill with somber tones, Lucy and Draco began making their way back to the common room.
"The dance is coming up. Are you looking forward to it?" Lucy asked as they neared the castle.
Draco let out a sigh and kept his head low, "honestly, not really. I'm more looking forward to it being over. I never hear the end of it." He sighed annoyed, rolling his eyes.
"Oh, come on. It won't be completely horrible." Lucy said, nudging his shoulder with her own. Draco gave her a look and shook his head, before they entered the castle and walked in a comfortable silence to the common room.
The end of school year dance crept up on Lucy and the others quickly, and she was once again messing about in the bathroom, trying to make her hair look somewhat nice. She fixed up her dress, a short, off the shoulder silver dress, and flung her hair back over her shoulder. She sighed at herself in the mirror again as he hair fell down her back.
She headed back into the bedroom and rummaged through her suitcase to find a pair of strappy, low heels to match her dress, as Tina left the bathroom and met her in the room.
"I am so excited!" Tina squealed excitedly, as the two of them made their way downstairs.
The common room was mostly empty as they headed through and to the great hall.
"Come on!" Tina exclaimed, dragging Lucy onto the dancefloor in the hall. She looked around at the other students before focusing her attention back onto Tina and the two danced until they were out of breath.
"I'm going to get a drink." Lucy called out to Tina over the loud music, who responded with a thumbs up and kept dancing. Lucy moved past the students and made her way over to the beverages, pouring herself a drink before drinking it quickly.
"You look good." A voice drawled behind her. Lucy spun around to see Theo, standing in front of her, almost gawking.
She nodded and took in his appearance, a white button up shirt and dark navy slacks, even she had to admit he didn't look half bad.
"Thanks." She finally said before looking back into the crowd of people, trying to find Tina.
"You know," Theo said, stepping closer to her, "we could make a lot of heads turn, you and I." he said quietly, leaning into her ear. Lucy took a step away from him and looked into his eyes.
