At the beginning of time, humans and creatures with special gifts lived side by side. Humans were scared of the unknown and what these creatures could do to them so they began to hunt them and kill them.
Vampires, Werewolves, wizards and warlocks, fairy's and leprechauns commenced to a life in the shadows, hiding their true selves and as the years went by they evolved into myths and fairytales, the ones humans told their children at bedtime or to keep them in place.
The magical creatures didn't really disappear even if the humans no longer remembered them. They started their own hidden society among the humans, with their own laws and schools and systems, based on one solid rule; don't let the humans know what you are.
Different kinds of magical creatures kept to their own species. Even if they were coerced to live like outcasts together to prevent extinction there was a certain hierarchy between them and they fought internally. A friendship between dissimilar creatures was rare and you only married one of your own, anything else was unthinkable and wasn't looked upon kindly.
Vampires and Werewolves were natural enemies. Fairy's did no harm and was ranked the lowest on the social ladder. Wizards and Warlocks were the leaders, having the other creatures fear them for their magical powers. But everybody loved the leprechauns. How could they not? They just spread happiness around them.
After nearly distinguishing themselves after they divided from the humans, with a war between their species, a new law was passed. Taking the life of another magical creature was forbidden. They lived side by side in different communities and the werewolves made sure that peace was held, functioning as their own police force. Someone had to keep an eye on those damn vampires to make sure they didn't feed on human blood. In today's society, there were sufficient blood supplements.
That didn't mean that the vampires kept to the rules. A few new vampires were turned now and then.
Magical creatures who couldn't control their powers were a danger to their society and to the humans. Therefore they were sent to a special boarding school, where they learned how to control their powers and how to co-exist with the other creatures outside their own species.
That's where the story begins...
