Two weeks later he had managed to control his fangs most of the time. He had worked really hard and his teacher Magnus had been a tremendous help.

He and Harry were sprawled out on the couch watching a movie one day after school when Liam came to talk to him. To be fair, they were mostly making out instead of watching the movie.
"Oh great, you're attached by the lips again." Liam teased.

Louis broke the kiss and turned around to look at him.
"Be glad that our lips aren't attached to some other body part." He smirked.

"Gross!" Liam said and pretended to barf but he smiled.

"What's up?" Louis asked and sat up. Harry pouted but got up as well.

"I just talked to my dad. They haven't managed to find your dad yet but there have been a few new people who been turned into vampires recently." Liam informed him.

Louis got even paler.
"It's not your fault sweetie." Harry said softly and held his hand.

Louis gave him a quick, thankful smile even if it didn't make him feel less guilty. He turned to Liam again.
"What can I do?"

Liam shifted in his seat and took a deep breath before he answered.
"My dad is wondering if you would consider being bait."

"No!" Harry immediately protested and held on tighter to Louis's hand, like he was afraid that he would disappear right in front of him.

Louis crashed his cheek and wiped his thumb over Harry's cheekbone briefly.
"I have to do this, baby."

He turned his eyes back at Liam.
"Of course. How?"

"Well, try and call him. If he doesn't answer, which I'm pretty sure he won't, his cellphone has been off. Leave a message that you have to see him. Hopefully, he'll contact you." Liam answered.

"Yeah, I can do that." Louis agreed.

"But that's all, right?" Harry asked.

"Not exactly. We need you to meet with him. You'll be wired so we can record your conversation. You need to get him to say that he turned you. Right now we don't have any evidence that he's turning people. If we take him to court now it will be your word against his and he could walk." Liam explained.

"No, that's too dangerous!" Harry protested, looking like he was about to burst into tears.

"Hey, I'll be safe. I bet Liam's dad and the whole force will be nearby, right Liam?" Louis said.

"Of course. Don't worry Harry. We'll keep him safe." Liam promised.

"When are we doing this?" Louis asked.

"Christmas break is in a week. It will be less suspicious if you reach out to him during Christmas." Liam suggested.

"I don't know about that." Louis snorted, thinking back on all the Christmases his dad had missed out on.

"I'm going home with you for Christmas. There's no way I won't be nearby during this." Harry huffed.

"Yeah? Wanna meet my family? I would love to introduce you." Louis smiled.

Harry blushed.
"I would very much like that if you don't think it's too soon?"

"Absolutely not. I already gushed to my mum about you. She's really looking forward to meeting you." Louis smiled.

"Does she....eh...does she know that I'm a fairy?" Harry asked.

"She knows you're the most beautiful fairy in this world." Louis winked which made Harry giggle.

"Okay, that's my cuteness limit for the day. Call your dad Louis, okay?" Liam said before he got up to leave them alone.

Louis nodded his head in agreement before he pulled Harry down with him so they could continue to snog.

Later that evening he tried to call his dad but went straight to voice main. He left a message telling him that he was worried about him. In the week that followed he left a couple of more messages asking him to call him back.

He had almost lost hope when his father finally called him on the last day of school before Christmas break.
"Dad! Are you okay?" Louis asked, trying his best to sound worried.

"I'm fine kid. No thanks to you tho. How the hell could you turn me in?" His dad growled.

"What? I didn't." Louis immediately lied.

"I don't know if I can believe that." His dad sighed but he sounded unsure.

"We're family." Louis answered.

"Yeah, don't you forget that. I'm all you will have left eventually." His dad replied and Louis's heart dropped. He was right. One day everyone else would be gone.

"I'm going home for Christmas. Can I see you?" Louis asked and held his breath, waiting for his dad's answer.

"I'll call you on the 24th to set something up." His dad said before he hung up. Great, he didn't even remember that it was his birthday. Not because it mattered anymore. He wasn't getting any older.

He went to find Liam to inform him about the call. Liam immediately rang his dad. The plan was set in motion. Being reminded of his upcoming birthday had really put him in a bad mood. Louis went to find Harry. He always made him feel better. He knocked on Harry's bedroom door and poked his head inside.
"I'm in serious need of a cuddle."

Harry smiled and opened his arms wide and Louis walked right up to him and embraced him.
"Why are you sad Lou?" Harry asked softly.

They laid down facing each other.
"It's my birthday soon, on the 24th. At least it used to be." Louis informed him.

"It's still your birthday." Harry answered and ran his fingers through Louis's hair.

"Yeah, maybe, but I'm not getting any older." Louis sighed.

Harry didn't know what to say. Instead he wrapped his arm around his boyfriend and hugged him tightly.

"When I was a kid I thought that everyone put up their Christmas lights just for me." Louis chuckled.

"Aaaw, that's so cute." Harry cooed.

"I always loved my birthday. Me mum always made it special." Louis said, a sadness lingering in his voice.

"This one will be special too." Harry tried to comfort him. Louis wasn't so sure about that but Harry's words made him feel better.
