If he thought that school was hard as a human it was nothing in comparison to what he would have to endure now. When he got his schedule he almost fainted. His days were filled with courses. Apparently he had to re-take subjects he got lower than a C in, at his old school. He hadn't exactly been a model student back in high school so there were a lot of them. English, math, biology, history, chemistry, the list went on and on. He thought this was a school for magical creatures!

But he also had other classes. There was actually a Vampire101 course and he started to laugh. He continued to look through his schedule. History of magical creatures, well, that could be useful. Anger management, Fangs control, how to hypnotize, Magicals101, Laws and rules for magical creatures, Witchcraft in theory, thirst control. His eyes grew bigger and bigger for each course. Well, this is why he was here. He needed to learn all of this.

He wasn't the only one who was upset with his classes. Harry came float-walking into their shared dorm and waved a paper in his hand.
"Economy? Why do I have to read that?"

Louis smiled.
"I actually aced that one back in high school. Just let me know if you need help."

Harry's face broke out in a smile.
"That would be awesome. I can help you with something else, if there's a course you find difficult."

"Well, Witchcraft in theory sounds impossible even on paper." Louis chuckled.

Harry came and flopped down next to him on the couch.
"Can I see your schedule?"

Louis handed him the paper and Harry compared it to his.
"We have eight classes together. That's wonderful Louis."

Louis couldn't help the grin that spread over his face. Harry was such a sweetheart. He embodied kindness with his whole essence.

Niall came into the living room area.
"I'm hungry! Oh, look! A quarter!" He leaned down to pick it up.

"It's time for lunch. I think there is grilled chicken and potato salad in the fridge. Sounds good?" Harry asked.

"Great! I'll fetch the others." Niall grinned and skipped his way to Liam and Zayn's rooms.

They soon returned and Harry got up as well. Louis stayed behind. Food wasn't for him anymore. Harry turned around to look at him when he noticed that Louis wasn't coming.
"Come on."

"I ehm, I'm just gonna go to my room." Louis answered uncomfortably.

Harry seemed to catch up on his dilemma.
"No, you're eating your food with us. Isn't that right guys? Neither of us has a problem with that." He asked, voice higher.

"Problem with? Oh, the blood." Liam said and pulled a face. Harry glared at him.

Louis hesitated. Harry gave him an encouraging smile.
"Go on. Get your bottle and join us. It's okay. Right guys?"

"Yeah." Niall agreed.

Zayn just shrugged his shoulders. Louis looked at Liam and when he nodded his head he got up to get his lunch. When he returned from his bedroom with a bottle they were all sitting down at the kitchen table, filling their plates with food. Louis took a seat next to Harry. He just sat there watching them eat for a while but then his bloodthirst got the best of him and he downed the bottle of blood. When he looked up everyone except Harry was staring at him with their mouth hanging open.
"I know it's disgusting." Louis said apologetically.

"It's not. Isn't that right boys?" Harry said.

"Uhm, I mean, it's not even real blood so I guess not." Niall said.

"How does that even work? Does that satisfy your hunger?" Zayn asked and tilted his head to the bottle.

"I have no fucking idea how it works but yeah, it helps with the bloodthirst. I'm just grateful that it does." Louis replied.

"It's synthetic blood, made in a lab." Liam informed him.

"Louis, how did you become a vampire? If it's too hard to talk about you don't have to answer that." Harry's melodic voice asked softly.

Louis hesitated.
"My dad turned me."

"What?" Liam yelled and stared at him in disbelief.

"Trust me, I'm really angry at him. He thought he was giving me a gift, babbled about turning me into Peter Pan. He has been a deadbeat dad my whole life so this was just the icing on the cake. But it is what it is. There's nothing I can do about it." Louis sighed.

"Louis, it's against the law for a vampire to turn humans." Zayn informed him.

"Oh." Louis answered astonished.

He felt a hand on his and looked down to find Harry holding it.
"So, what would happen to him if anyone found out, I mean..."

"Death penalty." Zayn answered.

"What? No, no, no, you can't tell anyone! Please!" Louis panicked.

"How can you expect us not to? He broke the law!" Liam growled.

"Liam, try to put yourself in his position. It's his dad!" Harry pleaded.

"A deadbeat dad, he just said so." Liam snorted.

"Yeah, and I hate him for doing this to me but I can't be responsible for his death. Please!" Louis begged.

"That wouldn't be your fault, Louis." Niall tried to comfort him.

"Of course it would be!" Louis screeched, close to tears.

"Calm down. We won't tell anyone, right guys?" Harry asked and looked around at the others.

"I won't." Niall agreed.

"Yeah, me neither." Zayn agreed.

Liam stayed silent.
"Liam? What if it had been your dad?" Harry asked.

"Fine, I don't like it but I'll keep my mouth shut for now." Liam finally agreed.

Louis let out a breath of relief.
"Thank you!"

They gathered in the living room after lunch at Harry's request.
"We're gonna live together for three years. We need to get along. I think this school is doing the right thing when they divide us like this. They could easily just put everybody in one dorm with their equals. Instead, we get to live with other magicals. I don't know about you guys but for me, it's really exciting. I lived sixteen years in a fairy commune in the mountains and now I'm here with a werewolf, a warlock, a leprechaun, and a vampire. Isn't it just fantastic?" Harry beamed.

Louis just stared at him in adoration. How could anyone be that cute? He totally zoned off and missed that Harry was speaking directly to him.
"Louis?"

"Uhm, what?"

"This must be exciting for you as well, right?" Harry smiled.

"I don't know if that's the word I would use. Scary, confusing, fucked up." Louis mumbled.
