Chapter 8

Cody thought he was being watched. Not by Rask Yularen who was examining the movement of the troops from the makeshift command center on Shili or by the Fourth Sister who was surveying the area through her red-tinted helmet. No. Someone else.

His brother, Rex, was seeming distracted, but Cody expected it. With the discovery of Ahsoka, he would no doubt be searching though the memories the new inhibitor chip had blocked.

Cody shook his thoughts away, looking at his troopers through his helmet.

"Commander!" yelled a trooper through the comlink in Cody's helmet.

"What is it, trooper?" Cody asked quickly.

"Rebels! Three of them, two adult female- a Togruta and a Mirialan, and a male child- human. They're coming, I can't hold them off- agh!" the stormtrooper said as there was a loud hum and he was killed.

"What is the issue, trooper?" asked the Fourth Sister, coming up beside him.

"Rebels, ma'am, fifth sector," Cody replied immediately.

"Jedi," hissed the Inquisitor. "I sense three Jedi and a youngling that is strong with the Force. Commander, gather the Captain and his troopers and we will capture them. Shoot to wound, not to kill."

"Yes, Inquisitor," Cody replied as he called Rex. "Captain, rendezvous with your troops at Sector 5. Prepare to shoot rebels to wound. Repeat, do not shoot to kill."

"Copy that, Commander," Rex replied. "Gathering troops now. Shall I contact the Admiral for a TIE fighter escort?"

"Ma'am, will we need a TIE escort?" Cody asked the Fourth Sister. She turned to him and removed the lightsaber from the sheath on her back. Cody flinched for a moment under the glistening white armor.

"No," the Fourth Sister said in her echoing voice. "But tell patrols to be on alert for rebel craft."

"Yes, my lady," Cody replied. "All patrols scan for rebel craft nearby," he ordered, before setting off with a small group if stormtroopers behind the Fourth Sister.

They met with Rex and the rest of the patrol next to a darkened Togruta hut. "They.... they are in here," the Inquisitor hissed in a menacing whisper. "Advance with caution."

Cody nodded and walked into the hut with Rex by his side. He felt a strange sense of calm wash over him, even in the face of possible death. His brother, his vod, was by his side, just like old times.

He moved to flick on the light that was on his blaster, but there several bright flashes. One blue, two white. The Fourth Sister stepped forward and ignited her red blade. She spun the blades in a speeding circle, so fast that the red blurred together.

Cody braced for the attacks that would surely follow. He felt himself being shoved back as a hooded figure slashed the tip of his blaster off with her humming blue lightsaber. Her blue eyes met his. The diamond pattern under her eyes and on her hands were all familiar to Cody. He knew who she was and she knew it was him. He would never forget her and she would never forget him.

A/N: Maybe not my best, but this was mainly a filler chapter.
