Breaking the surface of the water, Taehyung looks around before spotting the person he came here to meet.

"Jeongguk!" Taehyung swims towards the shore. The alpha turns his head at the sound of his voice. A huge smile spreads across his face as he races into the water to meet Taehyung half-way.

"Tae," he grabs his waist and pulls the siren in for a kiss.

"I missed you," Taehyung hugs him, enjoying the feeling of his arms around him.

"Wanna go a bit further in the water? So it's easier for you?" Taehyung nods and the two move a bit deeper into the clear blue water. They then go back to embracing each other, Taehyung's tail tucks between Jeongguk's legs as they hold each other.

"I hate that we don't get to see each other often," the siren grumbles.

"I know, baby," but it can't be helped.

The two have known each other since they were both kids. Jeongguk, a young adventurous alpha, had been near the ocean when he saw a young siren perched up on the rocks, looking off into the distance with a sombre expression.

The alpha approached him and offered a hand of friendship which, after some time of convincing, the siren took. They became fast friends.

Since that day, Jeongguk swore to visit him as much as he could. At first they didn't see one another much since they kept missing each other when the other would come by. But they devised a schedule so they wouldn't make the same mistakes again.

They'd been doing this for years. Meeting up once every week. Since Jeongguk is an alpha, his duties are very demanding and can therefore only make time to meet Taehyung once in a week. However, there would be times when Jeongguk wouldn't be able to make it to meet Taehyung.

The siren understood though, that it wasn't Jeongguk's fault. Over the years they ended up falling in love, which made the separation that much harder.

They would ache just to see the other again. And it has been getting worse since Jeongguk hasn't had much available time after taking over the pack. Now they would go up to a month without seeing each other and it was making them both delirious.

It has been two weeks since they last met. Him and Jeongguk spend their time playing in the water, kissing, laughing and talking about anything and everything. But then the time of dread arrives; time for Jeongguk to return to his pack.

Usually Taehyung cries after Jeongguk leaves but this time he can't help himself. It hurts too much to constantly be separated from the man he loves so much and only being able to spend a few measly hours with him every few weeks.

"No, baby please don't cry. You know I don't want to leave either," tears sting the alphas eyes as he peppers kisses on Taehyung's head. The familiar pain settles in his chest, the pain that comes every time he has to leave, and the pain that sticks with him until he sees Taehyung again.

"I can't help it Jeongguk. Y-you're leaving m-me again. We've been doing this f-for years and it hasn't gotten easier. I-its gotten w-worse," there is nothing Jeongguk can say. He knows that no amount of words he says will make the pain better, or change anything about their situation.

He has tried. Oh has he tried to change this. He has consulted countless witches, pleading with them to help. He was willing to drop his position as alpha and move to the sea with Tae but that's going to cause another problem that would also put the siren in danger and he didn't want that. So he begged them to give him legs so Taehyung can live with him forever.
