20. part 1

This one will be divided into 3 parts, maybe 4, I'll see how it goes

Casually walking along the stone pathway, not looking around too much, as to not draw attention to himself. He strides with confidence through the vampire clan. He knows none of them would be able to tell that he's an impostor.

Being a chameleon, he is able to change his species as he pleases. Chameleons are the most complex species. They defy the laws of biology. They don't conform to one specific species.

The only catch is that in order to be able to transition into a particular species, they have to come into physical contact with them first.

Taehyung decided to put his ability to good use. Since the age of eighteen he has been giving out paid services to those who sought him out. Whether it was a kill job or not. His ability to change species allowed him to complete the jobs he was given smoothly.

After about six years of doing this, he can't see himself doing anything else. His recent job is a bit different than his other jobs. A witch had come to him not too long ago with a request to assassinate someone. And not just anyone. A king. The vampire king.

The witch obviously harbored a deep grudge against the king to go as far as to pay him to kill him. Apparently the king scammed him at some point or the other.

At first he declined but upon hearing the money being offered he decided it was worth a shot.

So here he is. Disguised as a vampire, walking among the vampire clan. He casually greets a few vampires as he makes his way to the direction of the castle.

The plan seemed simple enough. Pose as a servant looking for work. Infiltrate. Gain trust. Poison the kings wine. Leave.

It was that simple.

 Or at least that's what Taehyung is telling himself. Vampires are sharp and are especially protective of their leader. There's no way in hell this is an easy task and Taehyung knows this but tries to trick his brain into believing otherwise.

This isn't the first time he's been to the vampire clan. He had a few jobs here in the past so that puts him at an advantage. He understands how they work, knows their customs and mannerisms. That makes it easier to maneuver himself around.

This time, however, would be the first time stepping foot anywhere near the castle.

He reaches a stone bridge that marks the halfway point to the castle. He decides to make good use of his vampire abilities.

He takes off at neck breaking speed. Dashing straight in the direction of the castle and makes it there in about twenty seconds flat.

He pants and leans against a nearby tree for support. Since he's not actually a vampire, using their advanced abilities can take a toll on him.

After a minute or two he composes himself and makes his way to the main gate. There are no guards standing guard at the front. Vampires don't need that. There are a few Watchers scattered here and there, their keen senses and abilities would make it easy to catch an offender.

"Hello?" Taehyung speaks at regular volume. He knows he doesn't even have to scream. They can hear him. He knows they also heard him approach and are probably watching.

In an instant one of the guards is in front of him. Scrutinizing him. "What business do you have here?" he voice he soft but authoritive.

"I heard news that the castle was hiring servants. I came because I wish to take up the position. I really need the money," He keeps his voice level as he speaks, knowing the other guards are hidden all around, watching the exchange.
