everything was really confusing for inha. especially after realizing this kid was right about the appointments.
she thought about comfronting him but she knew he was still a minor and couldn't do much about it. if he got upset, he could talk to his parents and she could lose her job.
instead, she tried to take some space. all of that could be a simple coincidence and that's it.
it was better to keep things buried as they were. there was no case in crying over spilled milk.
she went to the school as usual, went to her office and had the sessions with the kids assigned, she had so many stuff to do that barely had time to think about him at all.
but once the day was about to end, a thought popped into her mind.
she shook her head as she decided to pick some coffee from the teacher's room.
there were a few teachers, waiting for their last classes, some talking, others drinking coffee or on their phones.
she grabbed her mug of coffee and returned to her office.
on her way back, she saw kihyun walking towards her office. she followed him and noticed he knocked one time and waited, then a second time and waited. his hands were resting on his pockets, just as he used to do it.
"looking for me?" she said approaching him. he turned to look at her with unflappable eyes.
"yes. my mom wants to talk to you today... at the end of the school day." he said serious.
she felt her hands trembling with nervousness as she tried to comprehend why his mother would want to talk with her?
she hadn't done anything wrong.
"may i ask why?"
"sure you can."
there was a long silence. "uh... so... why?"
"oh, that's not my place to tell. you'll soon find out. i am just here to tell you she's going to look for you this afternoon." he said that and swallowed. "now, i have to go to my last class. see you." he said finally walking back from where he came.
the last two hours of the school day, she occupied her mind with all different kind of thoughts.
but especially: why?
once the school day ended, she collected her stuff and made her way out of the school. there were plenty parents looking around for their kids, some waiting on their cars, teachers talking with kids and parents, as usual.
she walked nervously around, as she tried to look for kihyun and maybe his mother, when suddenly she heard her name.
"miss lee?" she turned around and found a short woman with long dark hair tied in a pony tail. she had gentle eyes and beautiful skin.
"i am kihyunnie's mom remember me?... how are you?"
"i- do, of course, i am great how about you?"
"great. i am sorry to come so suddenly like this... i was hoping i could have a word with you... it's about kihyunnie." she said glancing at the kid, who was sitting inside the car a few cars away.
"sure. anything." inha said with a sweet voice.
"you see... i am aware what he did a few days back in your office and well... to be honest, i am quite worried about him... he's been... you know? acting out. i assume it's a common thing to happen after the accident... but either way i am worried."
