Felicity had been missing for almost 48 hours, and Oliver couldn't take it anymore.
"Curtis tell me you have something," he pleaded. "Please."
"I wish I could, man," Curtis replied, typing furiously. "Wherever these guys took her, it's off the map. They managed to avoid traffic cams getting away and must have stayed put since then because facial recognition has nothing."
"Okay so explain to me again what you remember," said Dinah.
Oliver took a deep, shaky breath before delving into that memory. He had been on a mission to take down a group of drug smugglers. They'd set up shop in an abandoned warehouse on the border between Star City and the Glades, sending out shipments through the harbor. All of their business was conducted on an online server that could only be accessed on site which meant that Felicity had to go with him in order to shut it down. While she hid in the basement of the facility, Oliver went after the men on the main level where thermal imaging said they would be. When he arrived, there was no one to be found. He searched each level all the way up to the roof, only to find a group of men waiting for him, Felicity at their feet with a knife pressed against her neck, blood trickling down the side of her face. It turns out the secret server was a setup in order to lure the team on site. The thermal readings had been faked in order to conceal their actual location, which just happened to be exactly where Oliver left Felicity.
"Let her go," he'd commanded. But they had other intentions.
"But why would I give you my most valuable bargaining chip," their leader sneered. "I still have plans for this one."
Before Oliver could take a shot, someone hit him from behind with a tranquilizer dart. His vision blurred as he watched a man drag Felicity away by her hair, eliciting a shriek from her as she called out for help. But it was too late, only seconds later Oliver lost consciousness. He woke up on the same roof only a short time later, but Felicity was long gone.
"And then I came straight to you guys," Oliver said, finishing the story.
"Alright," Dinah replied. "Well my officers have already sent out a search party, Rene is patrolling the Glades, and Curtis is doing his thing. We will find her, Oliver. Trust me."
"We have to," Oliver added, his voice cracking. He couldn't shake the guilt that had been swirling throughout his head ever since Felicity was abducted. She'd trusted him and he'd walked her straight into a trap. He had left her alone with nothing but a tablet to defend herself with. This was his fault. If something happened to her.... Oliver couldn't even finish that thought because he already knew his life would be over.
"Um... guys," Curtis muttered, having abruptly stopped typing. Oliver and Dinah rushed to his side. "An unknown source just connected to our satellite. That shouldn't even be possible, that satellite is off grid."
"So how did someone find it?" Dinah asked.
"I have no idea," answered Curtis. "You'd have to be some kind of genius to get in from outside of the bunker......." He trailed off as the realization hit.
"It's her," Oliver breathed, making a beeline for the door.
"Oliver, wait!" Dinah called, but he was already gone.
The signal was coming from the basement of an old tech factory, deep in an abandoned section of Star City. Oliver, now hidden under a dark green hood, made his way inside and crept onto the catwalk that hung high above the floor. He saw men dressed in black scattered everywhere, drugs being measured, packaged, and carried away all within a matter of minutes. All of the work seemed to be contained to that one basement, the rest of the building still desolate. Oliver wondered if they had perhaps taken Felicity somewhere else, and he was in the wrong place after all. He had failed her once again.
