*Spoilers for Legends 7x13*
"I'm just saying, you have the entire space time continuum at your disposal and you brought me to a Starbucks," Oliver teased.
"Hey I just really wanted some goddamn tea," Sara laughed.
"It's green," he argued.
"It's matcha."
"Whatever."
Sara and Oliver sat out on a pier in Star City overlooking the glistening waterfront, their feet dangling over the edge. It was peacefully quiet, with no one else around and just the sound of the water rippling below them. Sara was grateful, she didn't want people around for what she was about to do.
"So what's going on, Sara?" Oliver said after a moment of silence, his face taking on a slight frown.
"Who said there's something going on?" She replied, suddenly anxious. "I just wanted to see my friend."
"Sara," he repeated quietly. "I know you. You haven't stopped fidgeting since we got here, what's going on?"
Damn it, she thought to herself. Way to be subtle. "Okay," she said. "There's something I have to tell you."
"It has to do with Ava, doesn't it," he said with a smile.
"Yeah," Sara leaned back in surprise. "Wait how did you-" Oliver didn't say a word, and instead just pointed down towards Sara's hand and the sparkling ring on her finger.
"Unless you married someone else of course," he laughed. "I'm only slightly offended that I didn't get an invite but I'll get over it."
"Oh!" Sara gasped, realizing what he meant. "Yeah, I'm sorry about that. We were sort of in the middle of Texas in 1925 and about to get attacked by aliens."
"Sounds casual," Oliver smiled. "Anyway congratulations, I'm really happy for you." He began to lean towards Sara, but she put her hand out before he could hug her. "What's wrong?" He asked. Sara bit her lip nervously.
"There's something else," she said quietly, her eyes glued down towards the water below.
"What, did you die again?" He said sarcastically.
"No... Well technically yes. But it's not that either."
"Wait back up," he said, shaking his head. "Did you actually-"
"I'm pregnant," she blurted out. Oliver's words trailed off as a stunned look washed over his face. He waited a moment for the I'm just kidding he thought for sure would follow, but Sara just continued to sit there in silence.
"Oh my god, Sara." Oliver whispered. "You're not kidding. But... but how?"
"It's a long story, like a really long, alien related story. But yeah, it's Ava's." She still had yet to look him in the eyes.
"Sara," he whispered again. He placed a hand on her knee, causing her to finally look up and allowing him to see the tears forming in her eyes.
"And I'm really scared," she said, her voice cracking.
"Oh," he breathed, wrapping an arm around her and pulling her close. His heart broke as he heard her begin to cry quietly.
"Ollie, what if I'm not ready to be a mom?" She asked, still hugging him.
"Well... I can tell you from experience," he said. "That shock you're feeling now never really goes away, but I promise you being a parent changes everything for the better in ways you can't even imagine."
"I just don't know if I can do it. You know, be responsible for a whole other life," she whispered.
"Sara Lance, you have a heart like no other. And as a parent that's really all you need. With your love, that baby is going to be just fine."
"How do you know?" Sara sniffled, sitting up to look at him.
"Because I've been loved by you," Oliver said with a smile. "You're going to make an amazing mom, Sara."
"Thank you, Ollie," Sara smiled, wiping the tears from her face. "God what would I do without you?"
"Probably not have gotten shipwrecked in the North China Sea," he shrugged.
"You know what, that's true," she laughed, playfully poking him in the side. "But I guess in a way I'm glad I did."
"Okay now explain to me how the hell Ava got you pregnant?" He said, his face scrunched with confusion. "And how did you get stranded in 1925? Wait, and did you say you died again?"
"Okay, okay, slow down," Sara giggled. "I'll explain everything." It looked like they were going to be there for a while.
This isn't my favorite thing I've written but it was the first thing I thought of after this weeks episode. But imagine if Oliver and Laurel were still alive (I apologize for the feels). Maybe we'll get post-crisis *grandpa* Quentin :))
