CHAPTER 2 COMEUPPANCE- THE COURT MARTIAL PART II

Captain Salve's arguments in court had started aggressively almost in panic mode. She had ruthlessly torn into Captain Rajveer's reputation in a desperate bid to win the case and closed her arguments with the punchline sentence. She sat down with a look of triumph towards Captain Tripathi but her heart still unsure of her success. Rajveer's enemies were relieved and confident of their conspiracy winning.

But they had underestimated Captain Tripathi and Cadet Naina Ah Singh. Their victory was about to be snatched from them and this was just the beginning of their end.

Captain Tripathi stood up confidently as always looking like he owned the court and like he had never left the court behind for two years. He was not going to lose this case. This was and will always be the most important case of his career. Captain Salve did not know that he was not fighting a case. He was fighting for his own redemption. Neither Salve or Rajveer's enemies were going stop him from gaining his redemption. No force in the universe was going to stand in his way.

"Your Lordship, I think that my colleague reads Mills & Boons and Fifty Shades of Grey in her free time. Well, I would like to start my arguments for my client Captain Rajveer Shekhawat. I would like to call on the witness stand Captain Abhimanyu Chauhan for cross examination."

Captain Chauhan took the stand and stood facing his best friend with a look of regret. His testimony of the events had been factual but Captain Salve accusations of an affair between Raj and Naina on the basis of the talks in the KMA Academy were disturbing. He had just meant to talk of the relationship with Raj and his Cadets in good way. His talks with Salve were given an ugly twist in the court.

Cap Tripathi (Tripathi): "Captain Chauhan, you were the arresting officer on the Crime Scene am I correct? Did you see Rajveer shooting Col Shakti?"

Captain Abhi: No I heard a gunshot sound and saw Raj standing over the body of the colonel.

Tripathi: So you did not see him shooting. Ok Captain. You are the Vice-Principal of KMA right? Can you please detail your relationship with the accused. You were batch mates.

Abhi: Yes we were batch mates n best friends since KMA. We were also competitors n rivals.

Tripathi: rivals? Has the rivalry ever gotten out of hand or has it continued into your profession ? Has it descended into enmity?

Abhi: No, we are not enemies, I admit where our rivalry has gotten out of hand but we are not enemies. We're friends.... Abhi was shocked n angry, you can't spread lies to win the case captain , he shouted.

Tripathi: Relax Captain, I would like to ask another question, you are a Prince of Barmar right?

Abhi : Yes. I am. But I don't understand why you need ask this he stated irritated. This is not relevant.

Tripathi : Captain we will see if that's relevant or irrelevant in some time. Could you please answer another question? Since I would like to know a bit of history about your Barmar. Has the princely state of Barmar ever had any rivals or enemies or feuds?

Abhi was annoyed and answer arrogantly: What's your point captain why do you want to know this? Can you please stop wasting my time with stupid questions?

Tripathi: Just answer question Captain unless you don't remember your own history.

Abhi Ok fine. The princely state of Barmar which now part of a democracy if you didn't know that , Captain has no enemies today and historically we only had one enemy from the neighbouring state of Jaisalmer. Today, we really don't care about such royal feuds at all. Well the estate of Jaisalmer is still there but the heirs aren't even in India, there is no point in having a feud with them even if we wanted to . Does that answer you irrelevant question. Abhi mocked.

Tripathi: Well thank you for giving a very relevant answer to my question , Captain.

Everyone was mystified. Rajveer had a look of growing comprehension on his face. Whereas Gehlot had look of horror, Tripathi was starting unravel the prosecution's case with his own twists.

Tripathi: Your lordship, Prince Abhimanyu Rai Chauhan of Barmar's testimony must be disregarded on account of his relationship with the accused. He himself has admitted his rivalry with Rajveer has gotten out of hand . I would also like bring in a new fact which will bring out the reason for this rivalry. They are not just rivals they are actually fit to be enemies as they are from two feuding royal families of Jaisalmer n Barmer. Two Crown Princes, two families who had been against each other even before independence. In this case there are even theories, their family members have been killed in this so-called feud which the Barmar Prince has just admitted before this court. He is an interested witness. He has reason for enmity towards the Jaisalmer Crown Prince Rajveer Singh Shekawat. His testimony should be disregarded. I would like submit the proof of identity for my client n the papers are submitted before the court now. That's all for this witness your lordship.

Abhi moved out of the witness stand in shock. Raj looked at him with a look of sadness his secret which was known only to Lalaji n Naveen was out in front of the whole army. He never wanted anyone to know this. He had always rejected this identity n its legacy due to his past. Everyone in court was startled at this revelation.

But the twists in the story were just starting. The game has just begun. Rajveer enemies would not know what has hit them because it was not just Rajveer or Tripathi they were facing, they were facing two women who would protect their Raj with their everything within them and not even the entire universe would be stand in their way.
