She opened the closet and no one was there. I looked around and saw the face of the hunter, James. He smiled at me.

"Bella. We have to leave."

I said pulling her arm.

"You aren't going anywhere."

He came out of nowhere and walked up to us. I tried kicking him in the groin, but he grabbed my foot and twisted it. I screamed out.

"Run Bella!"

She ran from the door and he ran to grab her. She sprayed him with bear mace and he grabbed her by the arm and flung her against a wall. I stood up balancing on one leg and limped over to where he stood video taping Bella.

"Tell him how bad it hurts!" He yelled out.

I jumped on him and he flung me back again. I hit a wall and my vision blurred.

"You're a feisty one. Too bad your boy didn't turn you."

He grabbed my wrist and bit into it. I screamed out in pain. After that I could barely see as the pain seared through me. I could see the lumps on my skin moving, but couldn't do anything about them. I shivered. I saw a body go through the window and land by Bella. He picked her up and looked me in the eyes.

"Go," I spoke.

He jumped up, but James grabbed his ankle. I felt blood pooling around me. I looked down at my leg and the bone stuck out from my ankle. I started shaking and jerking unconsciously. My vision went in and out as I tried to look around me. Then I saw his face.

"Ophelia?" He asked.

He looked like he was in pain just by seeing me.

"Her leg," Carlisle said.

"No my wrist, it's burning."

Jasper looked at me with worry.

"No, Carlisle you have to stop it."

"It's on Bella too," Edward said.

"I won't have the strength."

I woke up at the Cullens. I looked around. Everything looked brighter and more clear. I could hear everything around me. I was in the yellow dress Alice gave me. I stood and everything was quicker. I heard footsteps and looked over to see Jasper by the door.

"You're awake."

"What happened?" I asked.

My throat burned the moment I spoke. Jasper was next to me in an instant. I looked at his arms. Bite marks littered them. I grabbed his arm.

"We were too late. The venom got to your heart. I'm so sorry darling."

"I'm a vampire?"

I looked at my hands and they were paler than normal. I felt anxious, but no lumps.

"Wait. They're gone?"

"What's gone?"

"The bugs, the itch, my disease. It's gone."

I smiled. I looked at my hands again and nothing. The ache in my throat began again. I put my hand on my throat.

"Yeah, you're going to be incredibly thirsty."

"Where's Bella? My mom?"

"Let's handle your thirst first."

I nodded and hugged him. I squeezed tightly.

"Oh, Ophelia. You're a lot stronger than me right now."

I let go.

"Sorry."

He smiled.

"My strong woman."

I grabbed his arm again looking at them closer.

"They look way worse now."

He nodded, "Vampires can see the true scars. You could only see them faintly as a human."

I ran my fingers along the bites. He pulled me my face to his and kissed me. I smiled and we went outside. He took me into the forest and ran off. I started running, but everything moved faster. It felt amazing. I ran until I caught up with Jasper. He smiled when he noticed me. I ran past him until I smelled something. I knelt on a rock watching a deer. Jasper came up behind me.

"Just let your instinct take over," he whispered into my ear.

I looked at it. Everything in me focused on the deer. I could hear it's heart beat. Suddenly a gust of wind went past and I smelled something I wanted more, my body wanted more. I dashed off in the direction it came from. I ran until I reached a cliff. Half way up the cliff was a man rock climbing. I smelled a cut on his leg. I saw Jasper running towards me and I started climbing up the cliff with my bare hands.

Rocks fell below me as I reached a ledge. Jasper caught up and grabbed my wrist.

"Stop, you don't want to do this. I'm sorry I didn't know there would be anybody this far off the trails," Jasper spoke.

"I gotta get out of here," I said.

My throat burned harshly.

"I can help you," Jasper spoke softly.

I turned around and jumped down. I landed on my feet and ran back into the forest. I could hear Jasper behind me. I went back to the rock and narrowed in on the deer again. I heard a different noise and looked over. A mountain lion stood stalking the deer. No, that's my game.

It pounced and so did I strangling the mountain lion to death then sucking the blood from it. Jasper stood on the rock watching me. I stood up and wiped my mouth with my hand. Jasper came to me and gave me a tissue.

"Thank you."

He nodded and smiled.

"I've never seen someone with as much control as you. You walked away from a human mid hunt."

I turned to him and snaked my hand up his neck. I pulled his head closer to mine and kissed him. His hands went to my hips and I pulled away. I rested my forehead on his chin and smiled.

"It must not be as hard. To be near me, to kiss me."

"Yes, but with that comes the loss of your soul, a tragedy."

"Don't worry about my soul."

"So you wanted to know about Bella and your mother?"

I nodded.

"A lot has been decided while you were recovering. I know this should be your decision, but... we don't have much of a choice."

"What?"

"We faked your death. Bella included."

"You what?"

"You can never see your family and friends again. I'm so sorry darling."

He reached for my hand and I pulled back.

"We're moving to Alaska. No one can know you're alive. You'd be different and everyone would be able to tell."

"And you chose this without me?"

"We all did. We have to do what's best for the family."

"So we're leaving Bella?"

He nodded.

"She can't function without Edward and you know that."

"She will learn to live without him. At least we don't have to separate."

He held my chin and made me look up at him.

"I'm sorry, it's just how it has to be."
