"Hey, do you know what's going on yet?"
"Bella knows."
"What? How? Is she going to tell anyone?"
I itched my hand nervous for the Cullens.
"She's not going to tell anyone."
I nodded.
"Does she know that I know?"
"Edward probably told her. He's with her right now."
I nodded and the substitute history teacher began our lesson.
-
After school Jasper was standing by my car. I forgot we had made plans to hang out at my house.
"I still have to talk to my mom, but I'm sure she won't mind."
He nodded and we got into my car. I quickly called my mom to fill her in. She didn't answer so I left her a voicemail.
"She didn't answer?"
"She's probably working. I left her a voicemail."
He nodded and I started my car. I drove us to my house and there was no car in the driveway. Yeah she's working. I parked and we both go out. I grabbed his hand as we went into my house.
"What do you want to do?" I asked.
"I have an eternity to do whatever I please, what would you like to do."
"Oh yeah, that eternal living thing. How old are you actually?"
"I was born in 1844, but turned when I was 19. So I'm actually 161 years old."
"So I'm shacking up with a civil war man."
"Yes ma'am."
"But what side were you on."
"Regretfully confederate. Although I'm proud of serving my home, it was for a terrible cause."
"Oh no, please tell me you weren't a slave owner."
"I wasn't old enough, nor did I have money for it. At the time it was normal, but now I do understand the amount of hatred and wrong I fought for."
"As long as you know now that it's wrong, it's ok."
I put my hand on his cheek and he melted into it. I loved it when he did that. Took advantage of my touch as if it was the last time he'd feel it. I smiled and he kissed my hand. We went up to my room and sat on my bed. We talked for a while until a phone call interrupted us.
I looked at my phone to see an incoming call from Joel and Sophie. I looked to him and answered the call.
"Fifi you haven't talked to us in forever! Stop being busy with new people and give me attention," Sophie pouted.
"This isn't the best time Sophie. Jasper's over."
"Oh? Can he hear us? Hello random cute guy I've never met before!" Sophie yelled out.
"Hello Sophie," Jasper spoke out of view from the camera.
"Why are you stealing our best friend from us?" Sophie spoke again.
"Sophie, he's not."
"He is," Joel butt in.
"Joel how dare you team up against me."
"It's alright. I'll only keep her from you for a couple hours," Jasper spoke, clearly enjoying the attitude my friends gave him.
"I want her back in two hours tops."
"Yes ma'am," he spoke.
Sophie looked at me through the camera with her mouth on the floor.
"You're right the accent is hot. Love you bye!"
"Bye," i said quickly ending the call.
"So my accent is hot?"
"I mean it is very attractive. I don't even have an accent even though I lived in Texas for a year."
"Where before that?"
"Georgia, we moved after my dad..." I stopped not wanting to continue, "After my dad left us."
His hand went to my back and he pulled me into a stiff hug. He eased into the hug and became less stiff quickly.
-
The next day at school Bella came up to me right as I got out of my car.
"Hey, you knew?"
"Yeah sorry, I found out last week. You understand though right? It's not my secret to tell."
"Yeah I know. So you and Jasper?"
"Yeah. He's a sweet heart," I looked over to Jasper and he was smiling while watching us talk.
"I thought him and Alice..."
"No, they're just best friends."
"Yeah. Alice seems kind of..."
"Pushy, but it's because she knows what she wants. She knows what will end good."
"I'm going over there tonight. Have you been to their house?"
I nodded.
"It's very pretty. No beds. Glass walls. Very bright."
"Coffins?"
"No," I chuckled.
I looked over and saw Edward laughing with Jasper.
"They're all very nice. Don't eat beforehand because Esme will want to cook you something. They don't eat so you'll give her an excuse to use the kitchen."
She nodded.
"I feel like I should be taking notes," Bella joked.
"Don't worry too much about it. I'm going over later as well I believe."
We walked over to our group and they were talking about the bear attacks.
-
About a week had passed and prom was coming up soon. The so called "bear attacks" had subsided apparently going East. Jasper had invited me to go playing baseball with his family, but he wanted to meet my mom first. I walked into the living room to see my mom sitting on the couch.
"Hey, Ophelia. What's up?" She asked.
"So Jasper wanted to meet you, formally before I go play baseball with his family."
"Is he here already?"
I nodded.
"Ok, bring him in."
She smiled happily. I hoped she thought he was a good guy. Better than he who shall not be named. Jasper walked in smiling. He shook hands with my mom.
"Hi Mrs. Flores, my name is Jasper Cullen. I wanted to formally introduce myself to you. I'll just be taking Ophelia to play some baseball with my family."
"You're Dr. Cullens son? I work with him in the ER sometimes. He's a nice man. Tell him I said hello for me Ophelia."
"Will do. I'll see you later mom."
"Love you bye."
"Love you too."
We left and drove out to the field they use.
"So why can you only play during a thunderstorm?"
"You'll see."
We stopped and I saw Bella and the Cullen family all set up to play.
