Sebastian was heartbroken at his brother's behavior, but he thought Damon was young and didn't thought like he did. One day he will see the best in people rather seeing only the bitterness, then he went to sleep in his room. At night Damon was sleeping, he had a strange dream. In the dream he was running in the cornfields and was being chased by that Scarecrow he saw earlier. The scarecrow would extend its arm made of hay and catch Damon. Then he would wrap his hay-arm around him and started pulling Damon toward him. The scarecrow had red glowing eyes and an evil laugh. His masked face is so scary that Damon couldn't even look at him. Then the scarecrow's mouth became so large that he swallowed Damon whole in the endless darkness. Damon woke up suddenly, breathing heavily, his heart was beating really fast and his whole body was sweating like he had been running for a while now. He thought was it really a dream or was it real. It was noon Damon got up from the bed and thought he should apologize to Sebastian for his harsh words last night. He dressed up and came out of his room only to find a breakfast and a note left by his brother. It was his favorite eggs and cereal, he picked up the note which said "my dear beloved brother, I did not feel bad about your words and I forgive you, love you." Damon ate the breakfast and thought he should go and visit Sebastian. He took a shower, dressed up and went out. On the way he was passing by the cobbler's shop and saw a pair of boots which were very nice. Hand stitched, calf leather boots with a nice buckle. He thought he should buy them for Sebastian as he never bought anything for himself, but Damon had no money on him as all his money was in his cloths which were left in Marie's room. He went to the bar and bartender John asked him about last nights escape. He answered he was saved by a hair last night, Damon then asked for Marie, who was in the back. Damon went to Marie who felt relived to see him. Damon then took his money from her and went back to the cobbler's shop. He felt happy in a long time, as he bought something for his brother. He was moving quickly towards the mine, he wanted to fly just to reach his brother and hug him. He wanted to tell Sebastian he loved him as much as he did. Soon Damon reached the entrance of the mine, but saw a crowd of workers on the bridge. He went to inquire about the commotion, a worker told him that some thugs came in the mine and had a fight with one of the workers. As soon as Damon heard this he started running towards the mine. One of the workers recognized Damon and grabbed him by the arm. It was Uncle Ricky, Sebastian's best friend who also worked in the mine. Uncle Ricky was the one who taught Sebastian how to mine, he was always good to the boys and often visited their house bringing them food and other things. Uncle Ricky had tears in his eyes, he looked at Damon with compassion and hugged him tightly. Damon became more restless and pushed Uncle Ricky away and asked him "What happened? Where is Sebastian, where is my brother?" Uncle Ricky was sobbing, he had no answer which made Damon more restless so he shouted "WHERE IS MY BROTHER!". "HE IS DEAD" shouted back crying Uncle Ricky. The words echoed in Damon's mind he froze in his tracks, the boots felled from his grasp. "Benny's thugs came and started inquiring about you, which made Sebastian angry and he started fighting them." "they came out of the mine while fighting, when they reached the bridge one of the guys pushed Sebastian into the river, and we never saw him or his body." Damon felt his heart stopped beating for a minute, he felt choking and couldn't breathe. He went away from the crowd and fell on his knees; his eyes were full of tears then he started crying loudly and was punching the ground in agony. The men who heard him cry were trying to condole and control him but all was in vain. The bridge was very high above the river and whoever had fallen had never survived. Soon the town's police inspector Bradshaw came to the scene and asked about the incident, of course the thugs ran away from there after Sebastian fell. After talking to the witnesses Bradshaw came to offer his condolences to Damon. He further asked what the matter was about and why the thugs wanted to fight Sebastian, which he answered with silence. Bradshaw told him not to do anything stupid and he will bring the culprits to justice. But Damon wanted revenge, he wanted to kill Benny and his thugs. Soon after night befall and workers were going back to town, Uncle Ricky and Damon were walking towards town too. Damon wanted to be left alone, so he went to his home. Uncle Ricky offered to stay by him but he refused and went to his house. Damon sat in his house, drinking, crying, angry, disappointed. He wanted revenge but wasn't sure how to do it, as he was just one person, he drank so much that his head became heavy, it started to hurt and he blacked out. In the morning, simultaneous knocking on his front door waked him up. He waked up, he felt his head still heavy, but not that much. He walked to the front door and opened the door. At the door was Inspector Bradshaw with his deputies and Uncle Ricky, who all were surprised to see him in his hungover state. Bradshaw asked Damon "Where were you last night?". It was clear that something happened last night but Damon couldn't recall what so he answered "At home, mourning my brother's death." "Why what happened?" He asked. What Bradshaw answered surprised and shocked Damon, Bradshaw told Damon that Benny and his men were killed ruthlessly last night. Their throats were stuffed with lots of hay which choked them and were beaten so much that all the bones were broken in their bodies. Bradshaw's expression clearly showed that Damon couldn't do such a thing as he is incapable of such brutality. Even if he wanted to believe that Damon did such a thing he couldn't because Benny was the owner of the town's biggest casino . He was a well-known man with 5 big men as his bodyguards. They were twice the size of Damon, and the way they were murdered it was almost inhumane. Benny was hated by half the town, as he would loan people money with big interests and if somebody couldn't pay him back, he would had, his men beat them again and again until they have settled their debts. Damon also had a debt but he was a slippery guy who had avoided getting beaten by them at many occasions. But alas his brother paid the price of his actions.
