Chapter 12

*Tylers Pov*

I didn't know what to do or say.

First her dad gets arrested and now she just told her mom to stay out of her life.. This poor girl. I need to make her birthday special. It's the least I could do.

I waited for Rose to fall asleep, and I gently tucked her in. I pulled the blanket over her and kissed her cheek.

I went downstairs and opened my laptop up. I started searching for her friends on Facebook.

I looked on her wall, and scrolled through the people who posted "get well soon" statuses for her.

"ah! May! I'll message her and invite her.. anyone else?" I thought to myself.

Half of these people I've never even heard of.

"Ugh how am I supposed to throw her a party if I didn't even know who she's friends with!" I said, outloud.

"Dude fuck the party, ill have Eugene, Derek, and Chris come over and she can meet the band. Maybe even drink a little." Zack teased.

"Oh god, the last time we drank, erm." I said.

"I'm aware, I heard it all." Zack laughed.

"Sorry.." I said awkwardly.

"Nah dude, don't be I don't care. Quite frankly I was jealous!" Zack giggled.

"Anyways, well what do I get her?! What do 18 year old girls need?" I said, wondering.

"I have no clue, but hey! Look at this!" Zack said excitedly.

He picked up the guitar, and showed it to me.

"It looks brand new!" I exclaimed.

"Yes! I know! I restrung it, glue the cracks, painted over them and I even tuned it. Listen it sounds better than ever!" Zack said, strumming a few chords.

"Here I'll even give her a few guitar picks, a kapo & a friggen case." Zack smiled.

"Dude you're great." I smiled.

"Great? Or just gifted with guitars." He laughed.

He put the guitar in an older acoustic guitar case, and added in the accessories.

"Here, give this to her for her birthday I don't mind if you take credit." Zack smiled.

"Thanks! Are you feeling cake and icecream? Cause I'm gunna run to the store. We have the rest of today and tonight to set everything up. I didn't even realize her birthday was tomorrow till about an hour ago." I sighed.

"Yeah, is she asleep? Cause I'll leave a note." Zack said, getting a pen.

"Yeah she fell asleep." I said walking outside.

"I'll meet you in the car." Zack said.

When we where on our way to the store, I saw May walking down the road.

"Hey may! I'm having a party for Rose tomorrow! Come by in the morning!" I smiled.

"Will do! Is she feeling better?" She asked.

"Yeah! She wants to see you." I said, smiling.

"Sweet I'll be over at like 11 tomorrow! Thanks for the invite!" She cheered.
"Yeah no problem, can you invite a few more of her friends I don't really know anyone and I wanna make this special for her." I said.

"Will do! See you then!" She said.

"Thanks, and okay." I smiled.

I'm so happy, I'm actually gunna pull this together.

Zack and I made it to the store finally.

"Okay let's get a cake!" Zack chirped.

"Sounds good."

Zack and I picked out a cute cake with flowers on it, I had the lady write
"Happy 18th Birthday Rose!" On it.

Zack and I pushed a cart around getting stuff. We grabbed chips, dip, popcorn, streamers, cups, plates, plastic utensils, soda, and balloons.

"Is that everything?" I asked, exhausted from shopping.

"Should we get a movie?" Zack asked.

"Yeah sure, Rose loves horror movies so why don't we go get a couple of the new ones." I said, walking towards the movie isle.

We grabbed a few movies that looked interesting, and checked out.

After we put all the stuff in the car and got in, Zack looked at me and laughed.

"Only you would spend $100 on a birthday party" Zack said, teasing.

"Well she is my best friend." I smiled.

"Dude you totally love her! Don't lie." He smirked.

The words echoed in my head for a few minutes.

"See now your blushing." Zack laughed.

"Oh shut it." I laughed.

"Dude date her!" He squawked.

"I don't know if she feels the same though." I sighed.

"But didn't you too have-"

"Yes Zack." I said cutting him off.

"Well I mean if she didn't like you that wouldn't have happened.." He said reassuringly.

"We where drunk.."

"Ty, I can just tell by the way you two look at each other that there's a spark there, come on make a move. We're going on your in a few days.. Don't leave her wondering." Zack said.

"You're right." I said.

I pulled into the drive way, and started to grab groceries.

Zack and I brought everything inside and hid the birthday things.

I went upstairs and checked on Rose.

She was half asleep when she sat up.

"I'm cold." She said.

I kicked off my shoes and climbed in with her.

She wrapped her arms around me and put her head on my chest.

"Go back to sleep darling." I whispered. She yawned quietly and snuggled up.

After about 5 minutes she's started lightly snoring.

Well it is late.. I guess I should get some sleep too.
