Tyler felt like his life had fallen apart- everyone time he walked through his apartment, he saw visions of Y/N pass him- from the morning they had in the kitchen, to how the bed dipped when she laid in it with him. She had such a large impact on his life that he didn't know what to do without her.
He tried to hide how he felt but when Jamie came over one night, he broke down- sobbing as his friend patted his back and did his best to soothe him. Nothing was working, Tyler wanted Y/N back- he kept seeing her picture around town and on social media, her father was using her as a ploy to get the public to trust him- he wasn't looking out for her or her interests, he was taking care of himself and ruining Y/N's reputation in the process.
The conference was coming up and Tyler wanted to go- he may not be dating Y/N or working for her anymore, but he still wanted to support her. He made Jamie get him clearance and headed to the centre that the vent was being held in.
Security was everywhere, there was a podium in the middle of the stage in the large auditorium and many chairs set up in rows for the reporters and those who wished to watch the speech. There would be a questions and answers portion at the end and Tyler was contemplating on making a statement.
Taking his seat near the middle, he gulped. He was wearing the jeans Y/N bought him and a dress shirt, no tie or blazer tonight. His collar was popped and you could see his tattoos peaking out- he was tired of trying to be formal and make people respect him- at this point he was frustrated and had a very "fuck off" attitude.
You either liked him or you didn't. And Tyler didn't care either way.
As the senator walked into the room with his entourage following him, Tyler stood up wit the rest of the crowd- refusing to clap, he watched as Y/N came out last- she looked exhausted, her outfit way too proper to fit her personality- she walked as if she had a ruled pressed between her back, like she was a robot following commands.
He hated it- he knew that this wasn't who Y/N was. The woman was playing into a role as dictated by her father- she was miserable and he could see it.
As the senator took his position at the podium, he started to read the speech his daughter and publicist had created- the words were obviously not genuine, it was as though he hadn't practiced at all and was just winging it. The man talked about how he hoped to gain the favour of the people and fix his wrongs but it was all bullshit- he didn't care about the people at all.
Once everything had ended, Y/N walked up to the podium, opening everything up for questions- some people asked her father about his plans which there was a lack of, they were about to head off when Tyler stood up- "Wait I have a question..." his voice rang out.
Y/N's head whipped around and she held a hand above her eyes to block the spotlight- the warmth spreading through her body overwhelmed her as she focused on Tyler, breathing out shakily- his name slipped past her lips. "Tyler... I- what's your question?" She gulped.
Pushing himself through the crowd- Jamie let him past, he wasn't at the stage but a few feet from it. "When are you going to tell the public that every good thing your father has done had been because you forced him too? That he's been lying and making you into something you don't want to be?" He spoke firmly.
The senator got up from his chair and tried to lunge at Tyler but was quickly thwarted by Jamie, who was holding him back. Y/N looked at Tyler and her eyes widened. "Tyler that's enough- Not here.." She winced, this was all going to go on the news and she was already embarrassed about being there in the first place.
The man shook his head. "You have to stop hiding Y/N- That man has done nothing but hurt you and I'm tired of it! I know that this isn't what you want." He promised her. Seeing the girl scoff and shake her head, she mumbled under her breath. "You don't know a thing about me..."
A cheeky smile graced Tyler's lips. "Really? I think I do- I know how you hate drinking coffee unless its cold, but you take hot coffee if someone gives it to you because you don't want to be mean or make their life hard." He began, walking towards her- he continued his speech, the emotion pouring into it with each word. "I know how you keep slippers at the end of your bed because you hate the ice cold floors against your feet in the morning... I know how you force yourself to wear these prissy outfits and how you constantly watch what you eat because you're worried that your mother and father won't approve of you eating burgers and drinking beer- wearing jeans and sneakers." He pressed.
The girl started walking towards him, tears welling up in her eyes from happiness- everyone was watching them but she didn't care, she just wanted to listen to Tyler, she never knew he cared this much- that he had paid so much attention to her. It really was more than sex to him.. she didn't have to be scared of the relationship with him- what Jamie said was unfair, but man- Tyler cared about her so much and he was willing to work in order to prove it.
Grasping the girl's hands in his own, he brushed his free hand against her cheek- wiping away a stray tear. "I know that ever since I saw you in that honktonk bar in corsicana that I have been in love with you..." he confessed- this was the first time he was admitting outlaid that he loved her, but now that the words were in the air- he hated that he hadn't said it sooner.
"I love you so much and I know you love me too... and I need you to know that you deserve a way better life than the one your living now- you said it yourself that money doesn't make you happy... family does- and I want to be your family." He spoke each word with empathy and compassion for her, there was no room to argue that he was lying.
Smiling brightly, Y/N let out a choked sob as she wrapped her arms around him- letting him pull her into a hug before kissing her deeply. "I love you Tyler.... I love you so much- I don't know how you did it, but you stole my heart and showed me the person I was meant to be... Im sorry I was so awful to you- you're my everything." She reassured him.
Tyler laughed and wiped his own tears. "So I'm not just a bodyguard?"
"You Tyler Seguin, are so much more than that."
