Lauren's POV

"So what's our plan?" Gerald asks.

"Today is the funeral of Justin's father. It was kept on the down-low but I was able to find out where it is," I said.

"Your dedication to your work and your friends is admirable," Camila kisses my shoulder.

"We aren't here just to find Justin and convince him to become COP so he can lead us. We are here as well so we can pay our respects to our previous COP who did everything for us," I said.

"He was an amazing man," Harry says.

"He always believed in us," Ally frowns.

"He taught us everything," I said.

Camila takes my hand in hers as she squeezes it gently. "He might have been all up in my business but he sounded important to you," She says.

"He was... Like my second father," I take a deep breath.

"When is the funeral starting?" Harry asks.

"In about 30 minutes. We should get going," I said.

Camila's POV

I walk over to Lauren as she's staring at the cemetery in front of us.

"He was going to retire," Lauren speaks.

"When?" I ask.

"In about two weeks. He had a vacation already planned. We were planning to throw him a party as a way of thanking him for everything he has done for us," Lauren turns around to face me.

"And then?" I ask.

"And then we were going throw a party for Justin when he gets declared as the new COP. He was excited. But now..." Lauren shakes her head.

"Hey. The ceremony is starting soon," Ally walks over to us.

"Is Justin there?" Lauren asks.

"No sight of him yet," Ally shakes her head.

"Do you see Chris anywhere?" I ask.

"Everybody else is checking the perimeter. So far no sign of him as well," Ally answers.

"Stay on guard Detective until the ceremony starts," Lauren orders.

"Yes, Lieutenant," Ally nods.

Lauren turns to me once Ally left as she holds her hands out to me.

I look down to see that her hands are shaking violently. "Don't be scared," I take her hands in my steady ones.

"So far we have a streak on Chris attacking us," Lauren says.

"Not today. I feel it," I said. I drop her hands as I step away from my wife as something downs on me. "He's after me. Maybe I should go back to Chicago so I can draw him away from you all," I said.

"No. I need you here with me," Lauren catches my hands again.

"It's the only way to prevent any more attacks," I said.

"Camila..." Lauren whispers.

"I'll see you back in Chicago. Plus, I need to... See my home before we take the next step once we reunite everybody," I said.

"I won't be able to contact you," Lauren whispers.

"I'll always be here," I place my hand on her chest where her heart is.

"I'll miss you," Lauren tucks a loose strand of hair behind my ear.

"I will always be thinking of you," I smile.

"And I will too," Lauren smiles.

I lean forward and kiss her lips lovingly as she holds me impossibly close.

"I love you so much," Lauren whispers against my lips.

"I love you too," I whisper. I pull away from her as I take in her so familiar features. "Pay my respects to Justin for me," I said.

"I will," Lauren nods.

"See you soon, my love," I smiled.

"See you soon, mi reina," Lauren says.

I pull away from her as Lauren walks towards where the ceremony is being held. I take a deep breath as I pull my phone out. "Alright, Chris let's see where you are," I whispered.

I dial the number he called me from as I bring it up to my ear. I mentally cuss when it immediately cuts off. I was about to put it away until it starts to ring. I look at the unknown number as I immediately answer it.

"You called?"

"Chris. Hello," I said.

"Hello, love."

"You want to me and me only then leave my friends alone. I'll see you in Chicago," I said.

"I'll be there, love."
