THE moonlight shone down on a newly build rooftop made up of stone bricks. The house it was on top of looked like it'd been abandoned though recently built. The grass around it was unkept and the windows had started to be taken over by vines. It belonged to two true survivors, Sam and Y/n. They were on their own and had been ever since Doomsday the Second, a term coined by Sam when he caught first sight of the destruction.

Doomsday the Second was nothing short of Sam's darkest nightmares. The sounds of TNT and devilish laughter had fused with his mind to create a constant reminder that Dream had them right where he wanted. He was to be feared and he controlled them, if it was any other way, they would have to perish. The reminder of the amount of people who'd suffered that fate had sent a chill up Sam's spine.

Tommy, beaten to death in the prison. Tommy's death was partially Sam's fault and it haunted him everyday. If he had just ignored the security issue and let Tommy out then what could have happened?

Tubbo, stabbed too many times for something as little as revenge. Sam could have protected him too if he had gotten there fast enough. They were his boys and he failed to protect them both, it truly showed that he deserved the purgatory they were in now.

Punz, executed by anvil. So many what if's crossed Sam's mind. To him, he could have saved them all if he wasn't focusing on the prison first. He'd selfishly ignored the problems at hand and the death count kept rising.

Then it was Fundy who had absolutely no reason to be killed other than pure aggression. Niki followed shortly after, being picked off like a flower left to wilt. There was Callahan, who no one thought would be killed but Dream hadn't had enough blood. The death count just kept going and going. At this point, Sam only knew of who was alive.

Techno and Phil were able to avoid Dream's wrath as they had worked along side him for the second bombing of L'Manberg. George and Sapnap were somewhere out there, he knew Dream didn't have the guts to kill his own best friends. Bad and HBomb were safe, Sam had seen them both with his own two eyes before he and Y/n booked it from the SMP. Then there was Ponk. He'd saved him twice already, but now he had no clue where his close friend was.

Sam at least still held onto a bit of sanity even with the compiled trauma he had gained. Y/n had stuck around with him, more or less because they also needed someone to rely on, but I digress. The two have always been close though they had grown closer when they decided to start dating. From then on, it was them against the world. They truly only needed each other. When Doomsday the Second first hit, he and Y/n were working on a build together. It wasn't until an hour into the destruction that they found out what was happening. Sam was majorly disappointed knowing his alarm system hadn't worked properly and it was most likely linked to the security issue that he still was unable to fix. Tommy's death made it so much harder, he had lost so much motivation and it seemed Y/n was the only one keeping him stable at this point. He made sure Y/n stayed behind, not even daring to risk them getting hurt or worse. After he discovered what destruction was left behind and watched more explosion erupt, he went back to find Y/n. He wasn't sure what was happening at the time, but he had a bad feeling.
