↳ THEY were so young when they met. Only a mere sixteen years of age. Neither of them knew what they felt the second their eyes met. Met across the train tracks. They both came here to escape, they didn't even know each other and yet something just brought them here. Admiration had filled Jodie, curiosity had filled Niki. They didn't know how important this moment was, they were only kids after all.
They laughed together as they tossed rocks, seeing who could get theirs further along the steel track. They talked about school and their dreams. It was an escape. They naturally became friends, both living in proximity of each other, just on opposite sides of the tracks. It wasn't ever hard to open up, Niki was just so kind and Jodie was accepting. They could only grow stronger.
Stronger it became, they managed to last until the end of school, when they were finally free from the chains that confined their adulthood. It only gave them more time to sit by the tracks.

↳ NIKI was sitting close to Jodie on a big rock they had managed to lug over a year ago. Jodie was picking at the loose strings on her jacket quietly. Today they were basking in the silence. There was no reason to talk, they were tired as the sky was racing along towards dusk.
"Jodie?" Niki whispered, pulling her glasses off to play with the plastic covered tips on the arms.
"Yeah?"
"I wanted to tell you that I think I finally found what I really want to do.."
"Really? That's great! I'm happy for you," Jodie always had the brightest smile to light up Niki's world. She couldn't lie, it made her gush,"What is it exactly?"
"Well, you know how I was doing streaming before? I decided to stick with it instead of finding a different job. It's fun and I feel like it suits me."
"Niki, that's so great. I'm so, so happy for you," Jodie hugged the other girl's side, not holding for too long despite how much both of them wanted to stay like that forever.
"It will be great because I'll be working with everyone, Wil is excited too," Niki picked up some small rocks and tossed them, bouncing them along the metal track.
