⸺WHEN MARIA LEFT FIVE AND KLAUS ALONE alone, she walked down the hall to find Diego sitting on his bed with his head hanging low. She walked into his room and sat down beside him. "Hey."
He kept looking at the ground and fiddling with his hands. "Diego, you can talk to me. You know I'll listen."
He looked up at her with his eyes a little red like he had been crying, but he tried his best not to show it. "My friend. She was a detective, you know the one that found you and Klaus."
"Patch."
"How do you know that?"
"We were roommates for awhile. She's really nice, but what happened?"
"Wait, you were roommates?!"
"Yes, but that's besides the point, Diego, what happened to her?" Maria was getting a bit impatient since she was worried that maybe that gunshot her and Klaus heard, wasn't fired by Patch. "I figured out that you and Klaus were kidnapped in that old motel, so I went there to find you guys and I found Patch shot, dead on the floor."
Maria looked at her hands and started fiddling with her dog tags. She had just lost her absolute best friend in the entire world due to a Vietnam soldier and now she just lost a very close friends. "Hey, you good?"
"Mmhmm."
"Look, I've gotta go do something, so I'm just gonna-"
"Can I come?" He stood up and he looked at her. He felt really bad for her, he didn't know what it was, but before he even told her about Patch, she seemed off. He just wanted to make her feel better so he let her come out of pity. "Sure. Let's go."
She got up and followed Diego downstairs. They were headed towards the front door and the chandelier was still on the ground. They were almost at the door when Klaus came downstairs. "What happened here?"
Diego looked at him and he looked just as bad as Maria. Diego didn't know what it was, but he knew that they just went through something hard. He kept trying to piece together everything but it was hard since they always hid their feelings behind their humor. "You look like shit."
"Why thank you, hey, where are you guys going?"
"Nope." Diego just walked towards the door where Maria was standing, but Klaus just followed him. "What?"
"I'm not giving you a ride."
"Oh, come on, man, you know I can't drive!"
"I don't c-"
"Oh, great, I'll get my things! Two minutes!" Diego sighed and just kept walking to the door and tried to open it. Maria just put a hand on his chest and pushed him back. "You're really gonna let him come with us?"
"Yes."
"But I mean, he looks like a mess and you do know that he's just gonna make us go somewhere stupid, right?"
