I Was Busy Ignoring You
present !
Maria was standing in the alleyway looking around for a sign or something that could help her remember anything. She was panicking a little since it was later at night and she didn't have anywhere to go. She left the alleyway and started walking down the street. She walked by a record store and noticed a magazine stand outside. She took a magazine and looked at the date, it said April 4th 1959. The title read Dallas News and she became really confused.
She put the magazine back and started walking back down the street. She was walking by an alleyway and a gang of seven guys came out behind her. They whistled at her and she just rolled her eyes and kept walking. They ran in front of her and while they past her one of them grazed her waist. "Hey, we called you and you didn't answer."
"Yeah, I was busy ignoring you." She tried to walk through them, but they held her back. "Aw, come on! What's your name, babe?"
She just rolled her eyes and pushed past them. The main guy who was hitting on her bit the inside of his cheek and his friends surrounded her again. "Looks like we got a feisty one here!" Maria just rolled her eyes again.
"Hey, come on, just come back to my pl-" He got cut off by her punching him in the gut. Two other guys came running at her and she kicked them both to the ground. She pushed past the rest of them and ran away as fast as she could.
She ran into another alleyway and she saw a great way to get away from them. She leaped onto a car and she ran across them all. She jumped off the last one and grabbed onto a pole that was attached to a wall. She pulled herself up and put her foot on the pole. She pulled herself up onto the roof and ran across it. One of the other guys managed to get up there and they were chasing her. She jumped onto a set of stairs on the side of a building and ran down them.
When she got to the bottom she got herself into quite a situation. She was now surrounded by them. She looked around the circle in fear. She leaped at one of them and pushed his head to the ground making him face plant. Another came running at her and she back kicked him in the face. He went flying back and more came running at her. She kicked off the wall and did a back flip over them. As she was flipping she grabbed their necks and brought them down with her.
She started running again. She ran onto the side walk and kept looking back. When she looked back and looked in front she accidentally ran into a man almost knocking him over but he caught her. "Woah, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm sorry, yeah." Maria was looking behind him and all around the street but she didn't see them anywhere. She looked back at the man and got to formally apologize. "I'm so sorry for bumping into you, I'm so so sorry."
"No, no it's fine. Are you alright though, you seem very tense?"
"Oh no, yeah, I'm fine just uh...looking for someone."
All of a sudden his eyes looked past her and he saw a group of men coming towards them. He pushed her behind him and just stood tall. When the man came close enough to see who it was, they immediately bolted. Maria stood there in confusion, she just beat the living hell out of them and they wouldn't leave her alone but he just stood tall and they ran away like he was a serial killer or something. He turned back to look at her and she had a look of shock on her face.
"I'm sorry about those guys. They bug a new girl every night, their a bunch of asses."
"Yeah, they kind of are."
"I noticed one of them had scrapes across his face and another had a black eye. I've never seen them with an injury unless I gave it too them."
"Yeah, I beat the shit out of them, but look, I'm sorry again for bumping into you."
"It's fine." She smiled at him and he smiled back. She walked forward and he kept walking the opposite direction. She couldn't get the words that she had heard out of her mind.
I've never seen them with an injury unless I gave it too them.
She kept walking and walking thinking about that but for some reason it didn't seem to bug her. For some reason she wanted to keep hurting those men. For some reason, she wanted to hurt anyone. For some reason, she wanted to draw blood. She didn't know why she felt this way but one things for sure is that she was hungry for violence. She was still walking and she hadn't gotten that far, until she heard someone say something. "Hey!"
She turned around to find the man that helped her looking right at her. "Do you wanna get a coffee?"
She started walking towards the man and when she got there she said, "Sure."
There was a coffee shop right across the street. They went over there and sat down in a booth. "So, why were you running from those idiots?"
"Oh they were hitting on me and I got fed up so I punched one of them in the stomach."
"Badass, I like it! Oh wait, where are my manners? I'm Caleb, by the way."
"I'm-I- I actually don't know." Caleb looked at her with shock in his eyes, but it died down. "You don't know you're name?"
"No."
"Well, I have to call you something." She looked at the table trying to think of something. "I'm blanking, I don't know. I'm just gonna call you lady from now on."
She laughed a bit at that and he threw his hands up. "That's the best you could come up with it?"
"Well, what else am I supposed to call you? I'm not that creative!" She was laughing at him now and he started laughing with her. It died down and he looked at her. He put a pile of money on the counter, he grabbed her hand and dragged her out of the coffee shop. "You're not gonna kidnap me or murder me are you?"
"No, no I wanna show you something." He dragged her into an alleyway and brought her into a building. They went up the stairs and onto the roof. They looked up at the stars and they had a great view of the town.
They spent the last hour or so just talking at laughing. She learned a lot about him and he didn't learn so much since she couldn't remember anything. They had a great time and she even stayed at his place over night since she had nowhere to go. Even though Maria couldn't remember anything, she would always remember Caleb.
