Little 'Su Ying' looked at the crowd in front of him in a daze. He really couldn't understand what was going on. All he knew was that he had been in extreme pain, so much pain. He knew that he was dying, but couldn't seek help. He had to die in agony, feeling helpless and lonely.
The next thing he knew was that he actually didn't die, but woke up in another body, in a completely unfamiliar place. He was extremely frightened. Suddenly, his head had started to hurt as unfamiliar memories flashed in his eyes.
Little 'Su Ying' was stupefied. He died… But now he was alive again in a different body?
He was in the body of a seventeen year old ger named 'Su Lan'. When the ger was young, he had gone to the mountains with his parents. But unfortunately, it started to rain and a terrible landslide happened. The poor ger lost his parents in that incident. He was also heavily injured at that time. After that incident, he became completely soulless. He wouldn't talk, he wouldn't move, just like a human puppet.
Since then, he has been raised by his grandfather. His grandfather had spared no efforts to treat him. But it was all in vain.
A week ago, the ger's grandfather suddenly became ill. It looked like his time had come. But the old man was unwilling to die. He didn't want to leave his grandson alone, especially since Su Lan was like that. Who would take care of him? Who would love and treasure him like he did?
His grandson was his only family. He had always blamed himself that he couldn't save his son and daughter-in-law, nor could he treat his grandson.
"Ah, 'Su Lan', your grandfather, he is… You, why don't you go to him? The old man… he'll feel a bit better." A kind villager said as she choked with tears in her eyes.
Little 'Su Ying' moved in front of the stubborn old man's bed who refused to die no matter what. He sat on that bed and looked at the person who was dying.
"Ah-Lan… Ah-Lan… My poor grandson…"
Little 'Su Ying' felt a burst of emotion in his heart. He felt sad, really sad. He didn't know if it was his emotions, or Su Lan's. Maybe half of it was his, and the other half was Su Lan's.
He felt a bit envious. Su Lan had a family member who cared about him so much. But did he have one? Yes, maybe Fang Zhi… Thinking of Fang Zhi, little 'Su Ying' became even sadder.
"Ah-Lan… Grandpa… Grandpa won't leave you… I won't… Never. You… you don't be sad…" The old man said as he struggled to breath.
Little 'Su Ying' could see that the old man was in so much agony, but he still refused to die, just because he was worried about his grandson.
Little 'Su Ying' didn't know where Su Lan went. But he really couldn't bear to see the old man in such pain. He desperately wanted to make the old man feel a bit assured.
He gently held the old man's withered hand as tears fell down his face.
"Grand…pa…"
His voice was so hoarse since Su Lan hadn't spoken a single word in eight years.
The villagers in the crowd were surprised. Su Lan… Did he get better?
Grandpa Su was also surprised. He cried happily while saying,
"Ah-Lan… My baby grandson… Ah-Lan…"
Little 'Su Ying' tried to show a smile.
"Grandpa… Your grandson… is here…"
"Ah-Lan… Grandpa won't leave… won't leave… You don't cry… Grandpa is still… healthy… What will you do… what will you do… No… Grandpa can't.. can't die…"
