It has been 3 days since the Manticore's procedure and he has healed quite a bit. They were all at Emilia's Medahall, and The mighty Manticore was helping Emilia give out food and water to the poor whilst Thomas the Blacksmith took notes and studied the Manticore at a distance with Maveron by his side
"Soooo, is he strong enough to fly now?" Maveron asked Thomas
Thomas took his time to answer Maveron but then he suddenly asked, "... Huh? Did you say something?"
Maveron was shocked and backed off a little then he got annoyed that Thomas wasn't even paying any attention to him "I asked if Alan is ok and will he be able to fly now?"
"Ohh, yes yes yes! All you two need to do now is to wait for the Northern Storm to pass for you to to be able to go to Cec-... ahem" he decided to come closer to Maveron and whisper "Cecamon Island. Oh Maveron, what did happened to your sister?"
Maveron hesitated, then he spoke "Her name was Silevon... She became a birthwoman for the northern Vikings"
"You weren't able to help your sister, didn't you? Is that why you want to help Alan get those other savages?" Thomas asked
"... Yeah- ahem. Hey Al-" Maveron was shut up by Thomas
"Before you call him, can you promise me you won't do anything... risky?" Thomas asked
"I- I won't of course, what kind of question is that!?" Maveron replied, "Great One! I got good news for you, come here"
As the Mighty Manticore plays with three kids, Ken Kracklinson, Niha Gyina, and little Garou Wulfrik, he was annoyed that he was disturbed, "What is it? I was busy"
Maveron was confused and shocked, "What? Pl- playing?" he said in a sarcastic, laughing voice
"Hey!... It's fun to play with kids that doesn't know any games! Hahahahha, heck they think hide 'n' seek's a game about hiding an object and then they try to find it hahahahhha idiotic children... gotta love em! Hahahahhahaa. Anyways, what good news?"
"You're all healed! All we need now is for the storm to past and we'll be on our merry way!" Maveron said with excitement, but it seems it didn't transfer to the mighty Manticore as he looked sad, "What? What is it, great one?"
"I- I don't wanna leave" the Mighty Manticore said without any regrets
"What?! You can't! That little girl needs our help" Maveron replied
"Yes but don't you think that I can help here as much as I can out there? I mean, I killed people out there and they all think I'm crazy! Meanwhile, in here, they think I was doing what I needed to do. These people are kind and understanding" The Manticore explained
"So you're giving up on a girl that can probably spread the word that you're good now!? Think about it, Alan!" Maveron said out loud
"I'm afraid!!!... I'm afraid- of dying... I didn't know that there were things out there that can truly harm me. For 50 years I've battle stronger foes that barely scratched me, and now, in my old age, I believe there's more than one creature or even a human that can harm me and kill me... I'm afraid, Maveron, I'm happy that you're getting braver and stronger-willed! But I'm not the mighty no longer, I'm just- the broken now..." The Manticore said
There was long silence and cricket chirping as they all are shocked at a monster being scared
Thomas stood in front of everybody and looked to Alan "Mr. Mourn! I, Thomas Dalus Finnikus, fifth of my name, has seen many heroes in need, in peril, in pain and scared for their lives just like you. The only difference is, you're stronger and not just because you're a monster, but because you're able to admit your weaknesses, without withholding your emotions, you show true strength!" he said as he smiled wide
"That's preposterous! Strength is strength, not emotions!" The Manticore replied
"Oh yet it is, great one." Benign Matron Emilia said as she step forward, "You might not see it, but we see it clearly, you're stronger than you know! Be more than what you think and perceive to think others think you are, you're not just a monster! You're human, same as us, yet you are the strongest!"
"... Never have I been seen as part of the humans, not after I killed my first victim... Alright, I'll do it, I'll take us to Cecamon Island, rescue that little girl from those savages and come ba- ahem come back home, here in Nevar" The Manticore said with a smile
"That's the great one that I admire!" said Maveron and then he rushed to hug Alan, then came Thomas then Emilia and then the three kids until there were 10 people hugging the Mighty Manticore...
Later on that week, before Maveron and the Manticore set off to their journey, Maveron was dragged out of the Medahall by three Northerners. "'Ello, little rat! How ya been, ay?" Maveron spat on him and the Viking punched Maveron on the face and grabbed his chin afterwards, "Learn your place, rat! Anyways, ahem sorry for the inconvenience but we need your help"
"Uh huh, what about you tell me one good reason why I shouldn't yell for help?" Maveron asked with a confident, insulting tone in his voice
The Viking pulled out his knife and placed the tip on Maveron's throat, "... We'll kill ya..."
