Warning: As you can probably tell by the title this is going to be based on Julie having her period. I know this topic can be uncomfortable for some and I would never want anyone to feel uncomfortable reading one of my stories; so I thought it was important that I let you know :)
Background: The guys are basically humans, but still ghosts if that makes sense. Haha, idk how my logic is working, but you'll see.
Julies POV
"Okay, how about we split up? Luke, Reggie, you go get the soda, candy, and popcorn. Alex and I'll go get the chip, ice cream, and obviously the cookies. When you have everything, meet us here; deal?"
It was Friday night and we were preparing for our weekly movie night. Tonight we were having a Disney marathon and I was excited to show the boys all of the great films they had missed out on. We had all decided to make a trip to the store to buy all the necessities for our fun-filled evening.
Reggie raised his hand "I have a question."
"Okay Reg, fire away." I laughed.
"Is this a competition? Like a race, I mean" he asked. Next to me, I heard Luke laugh; he rolled his eyes playfully.
"Is this a race, is this a race?! Obviously, it is, and we're gonna beat them." Luke grinned and wrapped an arm around Reggie's shoulders.
Alex raised his eyebrows. "Oh, you're on."
I laughed at the guys' competitiveness but I couldn't deny the fact that I thought a race would be fun. "Well then, I guess this is a competition." I laughed and started to count down from three. "Three, two, one...Go!"I yelled and we split up.
Alex and I rushed to the bakery section. Reggie and Luke sprinted in the other direction.
"I'm pretty sure we have an advantage," Alex said.
"And what might that be?" I questioned.
"Well for one, we have brains and they don't ."
"Oh my gosh, you're definitely right. Look at them, they're going in the wrong direction. Why the produce aisle?" We both laughed. "There's no way they'll win."
Alex and I made our way around the grocery store, gathering all of the items on our list. After we had all of the food we headed back to the front of the store, near the checkout, where we had planned to meet Luka and Reggie. They were nowhere to be found. I guess we had won. Since we had time to spare, I decided to head to the bathroom.
"Hey Lex, I'm gonna run to the bathroom really quick."
"Okay, I'll be here."
I handed the basket I was carrying to Alex, then walked to the bathroom. I was about to open the door when I felt it--that dreadful rush of blood. I cursed under my breath and waddled into a stall. Maybe it's nothing? I tried to convince myself that nothing had happened, but I knew I couldn't avoid the fact that my period had started. Ugh. Sure enough, I spotted blood. At least, I thought, I had a quarter with me. I stepped out of the stall and scanned the main area of the bathroom for a tampon dispenser. Nothing. I sighed in frustration. Every bathroom should have tampons or pads, it's a basic human right! I groaned. I paced and considered my options. I could either wait it out until I got home--which would probably end in ruined clothing and embarrassment. Or, I could embarrass myself now and avoid staining. I sighed again. I'd rather embarrass myself now and get it over with, and save my clothes, than wait. At least I could own it. It wasn't even that I was embarrassed about my period--I mean, lots of people have one--it was just that it seemed awkward having to go blatantly announce that I was menstruating. And I didn't feel like making tonight awkward. I exhaled deeply, that was it then--I had to go tell Alex there was one more thing we needed to get. I exited the bathroom and made my way back to our meeting spot. As I turned the corner, I saw that two other people were with him; Reggie and Luke. For some reason, my adrenaline spiked and I started to feel nervous. As I approached the group, they turned to face me.
"Looks like you won." Reggie pouted.
"Yeah." Luke groaned.
Alex grinned at me, "I knew we would."
"Are you ready to go, Jules?" Luke asked me.
The butterflies in my stomach increased, but I spat out my answer. "Umm...actuallyIneedtogotothetamponaisle."
The three boys looked at me, confused.
"Okay, say that again but slower." Alex requested.
Exasperated, I glanced at the ceiling, then dipped my head to the ground. "I need to go to the tampon aisle really quick." I looked up at the guys nervously to see their reaction. They slowly seemed to apprehend the situation. To my surprise, they all seemed to be unfazed. Alex smiled at me comfortingly.
Luke hugged me gently, "You've got nothing to be embarrassed about."
And Reggie shouted "Cheese fries!" We all looked at him confused. "What? There's always this one time, every month, where you really, really want cheese fries. Put two and two together, and boom!" Reggie threw his hands up in the air.
"I didn't know you knew what logic was, Reg." Alex snarked.
Reggie pouted. "How many times do I have to tell you--words hurt."
Alex just rolled his eyes. "Okay, cheese fries it is. Who's gonna go get frozen fries, and who's gonna go get the cheese sauce?" The moment Alex said it, Reggie dashed off through the store. I laughed at him before rushing to the tampon aisle.
I smiled. I was lucky to have such supportive friends. I really had nothing to be embarrassed about.
