Sîrion was the first to arrive at the meeting place. He took a seat in the circle chairs, hoping others would arrive soon. He didn't know what to do with himself after breakfast, and after a walk around the garden, he found himself already walking toward the meeting. There was truly nothing better he could do but wait for Lord Elrond to officially gather everyone. The sun was bright in the sky, making the white walls almost glow as leaves fell from the trees.
"Sîrion! How wonderful it is to see you." The grey wizard walked towards the elf.
"Mithrandir, it has been much too long. I am happy to see you are well." Sîrion stood to clasp Gandalf's hand in greeting.
The two began to talk, Sîrion speaking briefly on where he had been since last they spoke as the dwarves filtered in, sending some mistrusting looks to the elf. They sat talking in low, grumbled voices. Sîrion made a point not to mention much about Mirkwood, figuring the fewer people who knew about his contract with the King, the better.
"I hope to speak with you after this meeting." Gandalf nodded his goodbye and went to sit beside Frodo, who must have come in during the discussion.
The chairs were being filled, and Sîrion found his seat taken by one of the elves within Legolas' company. A seat was open beside the woodland prince, and it seemed much more favourable than sitting beside the dwarves on the other side of the circle. He offered a small smile to the prince, sitting quickly. He turned towards Legolas to give a greeting but was quickly interrupted by Lord Elrond addressing the group.
The ring was brought to the centre, its presence wrapping itself around the room. Any wind stilled, and the whispers of trees grew in volume, speaking of warning and discomfort. Sîrion leaned forward with a poorly concealed grimace on his face, his elbows on his knees as he rubbed his temples softly. He tried to focus on what a man of Gondor was saying, but it was almost impossible with the trees fighting so badly for his attention. Gandalf flashed a worried look his way. The man of Gondor stood, slowly walking towards the ring, a hand outstretched. 'It is calling! Run! Evil! Evil is here!' the trees repeated over and over louder with each step of the man. Sîrion's head began to pound at the bombardment, and he held back a wince. The sun began to darken.
"Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul!" As Gandalf finished the chant, the trees fell deathly quiet. Sîrion sighed softly in relief, the ache in his head alleviating the slightest bit. He sat back up in his chair, not daring to sneak a glance at the prince beside him. He knew how strange he must've looked just then. He didn't need to worry long as the tension between the members began to bubble again, the prince jumping up to contest the man of Gondor. All too quickly, the council fell into chaos. Sîrion stayed seated as the dwarves and elves began voicing their more biased opinions, and just as quickly, the men stood to join the argument. Sîrion looked over to Gandalf, who looked just as annoyed as he was beginning to feel. Bombarded by trees just to be graced by the sounds of others yelling around him. Gandalf stood to try to calm this mess, but nothing seemed to work. Sîrion brought a hand up to his face and let out a breath of frustration. Until a small voice rang out above the crowd, and the room went silent once more, Frodo standing in the middle of what was once chaos.
"I will take the ring to Mordor!" Frodo spoke loud and clearly before hesitating slightly, the weight of his offering settling in, "Though... I do not know the way."
The words hung in the air a moment before Gandalf joined his side, voicing his support, and Aragorn was quick to follow, offering his sword.
"And you have my bow." Legolas went to stand with Frodo.
"And my ax." A dwarf walked over.
Valar almighty, so this is where this contract would take him. To Mordor. A death sentence for them all, but he hardly felt dread sinking in. Instead, a fizzing of excitement overtook his chest, and he couldn't help the bright smile on his face, "You are very brave, Master Frodo. You have my respect and anything else you may need from me on this quest." Sîrion stood, finding a place beside Legolas and the dwarf.
