"Can anyone tell me the answer to number five?" Mr. Heart asked the class.
Ever since he sent me to the principles office he's been different, and not in a good way. Every time I would do something he didn't like, his attitude would change into something mean, it wasn't like him.
"The answer to number five is forty-three." The teachers pet, Bridget, said with a smile.
"Very good, Bridget." He praised. Some kids raised their hands to ask questions.
"Pst." I looked to my left and saw Zayn point at the floor. A note was folded on the ground. I waited until Mr. Heart turned around and bent over to pick it up.
"Meet me after school by the gym."
I looked over at him and nodded. Doodling on my notebook barley passed the time. I only had twenty more minutes until school was over but that wasn't encouraging.
Harry.
The boy who'd been invading my mind all day. I couldn't shake him off. He was infecting. The very thought of his eyes and his curls left goosebumps on my arm. The hair on the back of my neck stood up when I remembered the feel of his embrace. He made me feel safe.
"Class will end in five minutes. Pack your things."
I rushed to put my books in my bag. Looking up, I noticed Zayn had already left. When the bell rang, I stood up and made my way to the door.
"Promise!" Mr. Heart called to me as I was about to leave. I turned around and stood in the door way, crossing my arms.
"Yes?"
"How's Harry?"
So one day I can't think about him and the next you want to have a conversation about him?
"Fine." I simply say.
"That's good," Mr. Heart nodded his head, organizing papers on his desk. "Promise I want you to know, you are here for a purpose. You are hear to learn, not to day dream. The only thing you do in my class is daydream."
"Maybe if your class weren't so boring I would be interested. But it's not. If I want to learn, I will. If I don't want to, I won't. Simple as that."
I turned back around and made my way out of the classroom, walking across campus to the gym. Zayn was up against a wall waiting for me.
"You either walk really slow, or you got out of class late." He said.
"It was Mr. Heart," I said frustrated. "He keeps telling me to stop 'day dreaming'." I rolled my eyes. "What did you want to talk about?"
"Theo." Nervousness filled his face. I hadn't talked to her at all yesterday.
"What is it Zayn?" My heart started to beat faster.
"She um," He paused. "She's loosing blood still."
My face dropped and my heart sunk. More blood? She already lost so much that night she called me. Why didn't she tell me?
"How much?"
"I'm not sure exactly, but it's not good," he explained slowly. "Her cuts were so deep that they didn't know how to stop it."
"What do you mean they didn't know?!" I practically yelled. "They're doctors!! They're paid for this!"
He took my hands and brought me into an embrace. I cried in his hug. What if I loose her? She has to live. They have to know what to do.
"Shhh, Promise." He held me like Harry did but this time it was different. It wasn't for a good reason and it was more desperate. He held me tightly. I didn't feel safe like with Harry.
"What do you think you're doing?!" Harry yelled slamming his car door.
What was he doing here?
"Get off my girlfriend, Zayn!" He pulled me away from Zayn, his eyes were on fire. "What was that?"
He looked at me and noticed my tears. His eyes hardened and looked back at Zayn.
"Harry I-"
"You know what, save it." Harry said and turned around.
"Harry wait!" I put my hands around his arm to pull him back and he tensed up.
"No, if your going to be all over someone else when I'm not around then I don't really want to stay."
"Stop, Harry!" I was confused. Couldn't he tell I was crying and Zayn was just comforting me?
"Mate, I was just helping."
Harry turned around, got in his car, and left. He just left.
"Promise, I'm sorry." Zayn said. "I didn't think that would happen."
"No, Zayn. Don't blame yourself. I'm going home and I'll call Harry later. Thank you."
"Okay. Uh, see you tomorrow." He started walking away and I was left alone.
I pulled out my phone to check the time. 3:50pm. I noticed the call from my mum, a text from some friends, and Instagram and Twitter notifications. I decided to call my mum back.
"Hey mum," I said once she picked up.
"Promise, do you need me to come pick you up?"
"No I was going to stop by Harry's and go see Theo. She was put back into the hospital."
"Okay. Text me about your plans later." And with that she hung up.
I pulled up Google Maps to see the distance from my school to Harry's home. I had never been, would that be weird if I knocked on his door and tell his mother I was his girlfriend? Yeah.
I looked to see how far the park that he took me to was. 10 miles. Dang, way to far to walk. I looked up from my phone and noticed Avery walking by.
"Avery!" I called out to him. He looked up from his phone and smiled, walking closer to me.
"Hey, Promise. What's up?"
"Can you give me a ride to the old playground a little ways that way?" I pointed to the direction behind him.
"Are you okay? Your eyes are kinda puffy."
"Yeah. I'll be fine. I just need to get to the playground." I pleaded
"Sure, anything for you Miss. Clark." He smiled. We hopped in his car and took off.
"May I ask why you need to go to the playground?" He raised one eyebrow.
"I'm meeting Harry there." I responded and looked out the window. It was dark outside. Heavy clouds loomed ahead and lighting was far off in the distance.
"This is it?" He asked while we pulled up to the old playground.
"Yeah. Thanks." I hopped out of the car and waited until he drove off.
