Harry
"Hey, this is Promise Clark. I'm sorry I can't answer the phone right now. Please leave a message, thank you!" Her phone went to voice mail every time I tried to call. Was she mad at me, I called her about five times?
"Mum," I said walking to the front door, "I'm going to get Promise. I'll be back."
"Okay, come home soon."
I locked the door as I walked outside. Where was she? I started driving to her house and when I pulled up her car wasn't there. 5:12pm. I realized school got out two hours before now. I drove to the playground and looked in my cabin. Nowhere.
As I sat in my car I had to think. Where would Promise be on a Thursday after school? Theo! She could be visiting Theo. I pulled out of the parking lot fast and sped off. I was getting worried. I couldn't find her ad I hoped she would be there. It was my last option.
I turned on the radio to help calm my nerves.
"There's been an accident on Harmon St. Police are encouraging everyone to stay off of the street due to the wreak and mess it left."
I was coming up to Harmon St. as the news reporter spoke. I looked to my left as I stopped my car at the street light, and noticed ambulances and cop cars everywhere.
A sixteen wheeler was in the middle of the street and another car was on the complete opposite. It had been completely crushed and paramedics were pulling a woman out of the car.
That looked like Promise's car.
"IT'S HER." My mind screamed. My heart practically threw itself out of my chest.
I ran out of my car that was stopped at the stop light.
"Promise!" I screamed to the top of my lungs. "Oh my Gosh, Promise!"
I ran as fast as I could to her. Promise. It was her. She was completely unconscious. I ran until I hit a pair of arms.
"Sir, this is a restricted area." A policeman yelled over my cchaos.
"No! That's her!" I pointed at her. She was on a stretcher getting on an ambulance.
"Sir, I'm sorry, you may go to the hospital and wait for her there." He was stubborn.
"Forget you," I spat at him. He had no idea what was happening. Promise could be dead for all I know.
I ran to my car, and sped away. I know there were police cars every where and getting a speeding ticket would be highly likely, but that was the least of my worries.
Paramedic
"Sweetheart? Are you there?" I grabbed the young girls hand and squeezed it. She was strapped to the stretcher and completely unconscious.
Bruises and scratches covered her body. New skin was exposed on her arms and face, bright red with blood. Her head had a huge cut right above her eyes. She was barley breathing and her heart rate was almost non-existent.
I was supposed to wake her up. It wasn't going to help, but we had to hope. Seeing her like this hurt me. This young innocent girl had no idea what was to come. There were so many incidents like this, but you could never get used to it. The hurt was literally plastered all over them. Nothing you could do to fix them fully.
The paramedics see the worst of everything. We go and find the bodies. We race them to the hospital, and pray they will make it through. Pray the doctors will know what to do. We see what happens before hand, rarely hearing about what happens to the patients after.
We pulled up to the hospital and raced to the door. Everything was in fast motion. A younger man ran up to the girl.
"Promise!" He called to her.
Harry
"Promise!" I called out to her, "Promise stay with me babe, you're going to be okay." I cried to her taking her hand to my mouth. I kissed the bloody hand.
"Sir, please step away from the patient." A paramedic said to me.
"You don't understand." I hissed. "I was shooed off at Harmon St. and now you're telling me to leave," the paramedics and I raced inside. "I'm not going to leave her."
We ran to two double doors and rushed through them. Doctors in white coats and scrubs took her and the paramedics stepped back. They were heading for a restricted area. I knew I had to stop.
"Come with me?" A young nurse said after Promise was no longer in my saftey.
"What are they doing with her?" I asked her full of confusion.
"Going into sugary." She told me calmly.
"Sugary?" I said under my breath, "She's going to be okay, right?"
"Come with me," She ignored my question and held out a hand. I followed her to a desk and she went behind it and sat at a computer.
"Name?" She asked.
"Harry Edward Styles."
"Relation to the patient?"
"Boyfriend."
"What's the name of the patient?" She asked while typing.
"Promise Elizabeth Clark." That name was beautiful.
"How old is she?"
"Seventeen."
"What's her adress?"
"2315 Charels St."
"Her parents phone number?"
"555-234-990." I responded after some thinking.
"Thank you, Mr. Styles. You may wait in the waiting room," She pointed down the hall. I nodded and started to walk.
