Bucky P.O.V. (Still in suspense!!)
Emily walks to a corner and I stay there watching her while, the others look up on the stage, wondering what’s going on. She begins to slip off her skates and I instantly become tense. Oh course, I obviously think she’s leaving.
I see her slip on a pair of flat shoes and run to a corner and onto the stage. We all pay attention while she speaks and by all I mean everything goes deadly silent. No forks clattering on plates, no chatter, not even the pops from the fryer.
“Okay, tonight is going to be a little different.” She glances at our table. “I’m playing two songs for a good reason.” She pauses, scanning the crowd. “I see a lot of older gentleman and women and that’s not a bad thing, this song is for you.” She glances at Steve and I and we both blush.
I mean, I’m The Winter Soldier. The Winter Soldier. Feared assassin, ruthless killer and I’m blushing like a teenage girl. Clint nudges Steve and I.
“I think she’s talking about you.” Steve and I both face palm at Clint. I’m not so sure that he’s an assassin now. Clueless on everything and it was so obvious when she winked at us. Tony joins in.
“Yeah, I’m almost sure she’s talking about you two.” He says and Natasha slaps them both on the back of the head.
“She is talking about them, dip sticks.” She says and I grin. I turn fully in my seat, so that I’m facing her.
“Men, gather up your girls and some of you, just listen in.” She looks at us again and then motion for the band to begin playing. Trumpet sounds and more. I suddenly realize the song and I shift to look at Steve. He’s looking at me.
“It’s been a long, long time?” I mouth to him and he nods. I haven’t heard this song in well… a long, long time. Couples gather up and begin dancing near the stage. I notice the lady she calls ‘mother’ watching her with pride on her face.
Kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It's been a long, long time
Haven't felt like this, my dearI watch as she closes her eyes and sings the song, like she was meant to. I mean I never heard the song sang that well. She moves her hand along the stand, which the microphone is hooked up to.
Since I can't remember when
It's been a long, long time
You'll never know how many dreams
I've dreamed about you
Or just how empty they all seemed without you
So kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It's been a long, long time
Ah, kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It's been a long time
Haven't felt like this my dear
Since I can't remember when
It's been a long, long time
You'll never know how many dreams
I dreamed about you
Or just how empty they all seemed without you
So kiss me once then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It's been a long, long time
The last words ring through and the band continues on until the end of the song. Her eyes pop open and she looks across the room. When the band ends, the couples cheer and walk to their seats. We looks at her and she smirks, I’m pretty sure, Steve and I are looking surprised at her.
“One more song by me tonight.” She says to the crowd and some look saddened by that. “One question for all of you, do you want your heart racing?” The crowd cheers loudly at her. It rings through the diner and I’m pretty sure anyone a mile away could hear it.
“I want some of my dancers on stage.” She says and about three men and three women jump up onto the stage. She looks at the men and points at them. “Ah. Ah, ah men off the stage!” She calls and the men, jump down. She walks to the ladies and speaks to them for a few seconds.
