Chapter 28

Bucky P.O.V

She looks fearless.

She looks brave.

Hydra changed her.

Emily walks around with steel walls up, fighting the emotions that burst through her. I know, because I’ve been there. It’s a deep hole, one you don’t want to live in. Her eyes glaze over when she thinks back then.

She doesn’t know what happened, but I do.

After a few weeks of planning to take down HYDRA with Sam Wilson and the crew, I got letters. More like packages from Hydra. I traced them for any sign of bugs. When I opened them it was a series of CDs. Each on labeled with a date and her name. There were also a few on me.

I saw everything. Her fighting back. Getting punched and what they did to her when she was out and I know she wouldn’t want to know what happened. I wish I didn’t know what happened and that says something.

I walk down the hallway and I hear soft sobs coming from a room. I stop at a door and lean on it, noticing that the noise is coming from there. I look at the tag on whose room it is.

Emily Jean Andrews Stark

I test the knob and I slowly turn it opening the door. I look in the room and see her on the couch with her head in her hands. I slowly walk across the room, not making a sound. I sink onto the couch beside her and she doesn’t look over.

I reach out and gently grab her shoulders and pulling her to me. She buries he head in my jacket. Her hand clutches my shirt and she slides into my lap crying. I wrap my arms around her, rubbing my hand on her back.

After a few more minutes she slumps into my chest.

“I remember.” She whispers. “I remember everything. I pretend that everything is alright. To have my own code to block out the horrors, but they’re apart of you, they try to tear you apart, limb my limb making you want to cry out for help, but you can’t because your gagged in fear.” She says and I kiss her hair not saying a word.

She lets out a deep sigh and fiddles with the edge of my shirt.

“Thank you.” She says and I hum my response. She turns her head to me and buries it into my neck, her hair tickling be. I lean my chin down and rub my scruff against her, making her giggle.

“Oh does the tickle you?” I ask innocently and turn her head up and bury my head in her neck making her giggle because it tickles. I move my fingers tickling her side and she tries to jump away from me. I hold her to me and keep tickling me.

“James!” She cries out my real name and I stop and look at her.

“You called me James.” I say slightly in awe. She’s the only one who has done so.

“Yeah, it’s your names silly.” She says and I lean down placing a kiss on her jaw, a giggle slightly erupts from her mouth and she begins to hiccup.

“Screw you, Bucky. Screw” Hiccup “You.” She says and continues to hiccup while giggling.

“Did I do something, darling?” I place innocence and she rolls her arms hiccupping.

“You know…” Hiccup “Dang well…” Hiccup “What you…” Hiccup “Did.” Hiccup and I laugh at her while she scowls and hiccups. “I’ll get…” Hiccup. “Back at you…” Hiccup “Barnes.” She cries and raises her fist threatening.
