September 28, 1974

Stevie had dodged the Lotto for the whole of nine years and she loved that. You become eligible for the lotto the day you turn eighteen. The lotto takes places every year on the last Saturday of the month of September. The only reason she was able to dodge the Lotto was simply that her name wasn't called. only one hundred and fifty couples per section were drawn yearly. There were three sections, woman and woman, man and man, and man and woman. Homosexuality was frowned upon but not forbidden so the government obliged and let people have the option. But usually only about four people come forward for the woman and woman and man and man section. Her name was never drawn in the Lotto, and for that she was grateful. She thought the whole idea was stupid in the sense that she should be able to pick the man she marries, her man shouldn't be picked for her. But that was besides the point. She didn't want the baggage that came with the Lotto...that baggage that indicated that within two years a child needs to be born. They can't do anything to punish you if a child isn't born because the government can't control biology but there's the no children tax. They'll be taxed if they don't have a child. But she's a twenty-six year old Career Woman. She had made a name for herself in San Francisco at Bessie Carmichael Elementary school, but after her five year contract expired she transferred to McKinley Elementary School in Santa Monica simply because there was nothing keeping her in San Francisco. Her parents had moved to Phoenix Arizona after she graduated college. But she was back in San Fran for the Lotto simply because you couldn't indicate a district change unless you've been living there for a year and she' s only been in Santa Monica for three months.

Reluctantly she slammed her hand against the alarm and she dressed in her black chiffon dress. The top was crushed velvet but the skirt and the bell sleeves were chiffon and she left her permed hair down. She slid her feet into her black platform boots and then she headed downstairs where her parents and her little brother were waiting for her. Her brother Christopher was also apart of the Lotto, being 22, he hasn't been chosen yet either but he was living in the Condo his sister had while she was teaching because it was close to his advertising agency.

Walking into the center they drew blood, took finger prints, filled out the paperwork and then they made their way inside. At the door the woman asked what section she preferred, Stevie of course said "Men." her brother said "Women" and they were directed to another room in an arena of sorts where they'd sit and they'd wait.

Lindsey Buckingham was twenty-four years old, would be twenty-five in just a few days. his birthday is October 3rd and he was really upset because of the fact that he looked forward to Lotto but every year for about five years, he hasn't been chosen. Lindsey Buckingham has a medical condition and because of his medical condition, he is forced to wear a medical bracelet which is a sign of medical unfitness. It basically means, he doesn't have a job, he's almost 25 years old and he still lives with his mother, which is fine seeing as how she was widowed the year prior but he was considered an undesirable partner because of the chance of passing down his genetic infliction, so if he doesn't get chosen in the lotto his life is reduced to poverty, unless he finds a way to make himself money. He's not even eligible for the draft because of it, so he was simply undesirable and useless and to keep himself out of poverty he needed to marry a well off woman and he was excited about it. Because he'd never be able to even get a girl to like him without this. But he hadn't been chosen. He was lucky though because he was living with his mother still.

As soon as the alarm went off he practically jumped out of bed and got dressed. He chose a pair of nice black pants and a nice crisp white button down, He tamed his afro curls and slid into his dress shoes and bounded down the stairs. He was the baby of the family, and even though his brothers had already been married off, Jeff who was seven years older at 32, had married a nice woman named Daryl and their daughter Cory came two years ago. His middle brother Greg, who was four years older than him had married a woman named Eliza and they were happily married a baby to be born in about four months. And Lindsey couldn't wait to meet and marry someone and have a child. A sweet little baby. He was good with babies and he couldn't wait to have his own to love and care for even though there was the possibility of his genetic infliction.

Walking up to the event center Lindsey was nervous. He watched eagerly as the doctor on site took his blood. Not even flinching at the needle like so many people before him had, but that was because of his infliction. Lindsey was diagnosed with Epilepsy at the young age of ten. He underwent months of tests and lab work and finally a spinal tap procedure which ultimately diagnosed his condition. And because he spent so much time in and out of hospital's, he had a great admiration for doctors and he knew that if he wasn't epileptic and he could get into school that he'd ultimately become a doctor but the Sad truth was he didn't get accepted to college when he tried. He took his finger prints and filled out his paperwork and when he was finally ushered to the heterosexual section, he sat eagerly bouncing in his seat. He knew there was a chance that he wasn't going to get chosen today but there was still a chance and he was excited, he was ready to meet his other half.

They had gotten to 140, Lindsey was losing hope on finding his mate and anyone could see it looking at his face. Stevie on the other hand was relieved because she was so much closer to another year dodging the lotto.

"Christopher Aaron Nicks." Stevie gasped as her brother smiled and made his way up to the stage. She didn't necessarily like the fact that her brother was getting married before her, but at the same time she detested the Lotto.

"Lori Psaltis Perry"  was called for his wife and Stevie smiled seeing the obviously really young redhead bound up to the stage and immediately hug Christopher.

At this point Lindsey had lost hope completely and was pushing down the tears and Stevie was giddy because she was still this much closer to dodging her bullet, and her brother was getting married and he seemed happy that he was. But then the world stopped when the first name was called. "Lindsey Adams Buckingham."

His eyes went wide and he practically jumped up giddily making his way to the 150th spot on the stage. He was so excited to find his mate, he had imagined her with shiny brown straight hair and blue eyes, a gorgeous average build and sleek frame, decent sized breasts but the name, "Stephanie Lynn Nicks." Was called.

Her mouth fell open and Jess had to physically push her up and out of her seat for her to slowly make her assent up to the stage and Lindsey got a good look at her. She had blonde very clearly permed hair big brown eyes, and she was petite extremely shorter than him because he could see she was wearing six inch high heel shoes and she still only landed at his shoulder. She had no boobs what so ever, put she was tiny in the waist department and she had fuller hips.

"Hi, I'm Lindsey." He holds out his right hand to her and she gasps seeing the medical bracelet on his wrist and she did take his hand almost a look of disgust on her face at the bracelet

"Stephanie, but everyone calls me Stevie." She grits out still eyeing the bracelet on his wrist.
